A5000 and towing???

Thinking of upgrading to an A5000 and some sticks with a predator. THe truck is a 05 2500 with a 6 speed? Is this not going to be able to tow a 33' boat? How bad will it be? Thanks

I would PM member "cquestad" if I was you...IIRC he towed heavy with a A5K for 100K miles before his turbo let go....thats pretty impressive!! he would be the guy to talk to about DD/towing and the A5k.

I dont see you fueling listed there fill out your sig. That will make a big difference. From stock, maybe, but with inj, cp3, and smarty its no problem pulling a 24' enclosed chock full of tools, probably 20,000lbs. But then again some people dont like a squalin dual disc clutch, tha whine of a big turbo, big tires, or a single stack. Those are the best parts.

I would say you are fine...with the "right" amount of fuel dialed in. You just have to drive around the lag...

Choose a grear and speed to keep the rpms at or above...above is better 2,000 rpms.

You want to have a tow fueling setting for the turbo that does not fuel as hard on the bottom as a race fuel setting or you will have more of a battle with surge.

I towed upwards of 25k many many times...a loaded 30 foot gn with 8x10 frontal area 2000 mile roundtrips at 80 mph almost a dozen times...

It gets tricky...but should be even easier with a manual.

Go for it.
