Another thing to add. 700+rwhp will show all facory defects that will not show up in the 500hp range. I was blowing antifreeze out of the rad cap and popping through the intake, when I first hit it hard. Turns out my head was not exactly flat around the cooling ports and the intake valves were tuliping due to the factory valve springs. Milling .007, a complete valve job and F1 Springs fixed these. These problems never showed up racing or dynoing in the high 500hp range. Allso high quality synthetic oil should be used due to high cylinder temps(not egts). My cylinders all had good crosshatch and no scoring but I have used synthetic oil since it had 3k miles on it. Not trying to worry anyone but you will have more and expensive maintance the higher you go. Tim

I am only spinning it to about 3500rpm. I think it came from the valves bouncing due to the springs not having enough tension. It could also be the intake valves are made of crappy material, but I am hoping not. My motor only has 12 k on it. I worry because several CR motors I have had the heads off have had problems at low mileage. Keep in mind there were no noticable problems til the wick was turned way up. Tim

Even though my truck isnt pushing that kind of power I have to say when Tim cranked my truck up, thats when we found some bad valve seats. 700+ Im sure you will find every small defect from the factory.. Good Job Tim keep pushin that envelope, so we all can see what issues we may need to address, and find out what the max hp on these trucks is safe for a daily driver.

Ryan dont cut yourself short, Your truck should be close to 600 on a dyno. Maybe more with one of dons press boxs on there. You have a healthy sized set of flux 3s in your motor. Tim

Good to see your #'s now I just need ya to fix my darn trans when you get some time and the parts, and yes pm me I would love to have a Don approved/built pressure box, no matter how long it takes or cost. ( I know hes as busy as you). And maybe when I come down to do the trans we can go to your buddys shop and get her dynoed. But fixing my trans is gonna be a long day in itself . And again great #'s Tim.

Wunderwood, when you crank the timing up for 12v it typically takes low end away and adds power at the top of the powerband. You have to compromise on a mechanical diesel because the timing is set where you put it. That tends to take some of the low end out of a 12v making big power numbers. With the 24v and the common rail motors you can have the timing low for bottom end and electronicly advance it as you need it at higher rpms. This tends to put more torque at the bottom of the power band with identical horse power motors. Tim

whats the highest HP CR motor right now? i no my very very good buddy Reb Brown dynoed his 03 at 893. he should be very very close to 1000hp right now with his NEW setup but just wondering if there are a few 700plus common rails out there or just a hand full.

The P7100 has static timing, but the mechanical VE has variable. Of course, the highest #2 only VE right now is "only" 640-ish HP.
