6spd 1/4 mile

Just curious, how much horse power would my truck need to run low 13s or high 12s in the 1/4 mile? Assuming I have all the defueling taken care of.
Thanks

A Lot.

My best time of 13.9 was at full weight (3/4 tank of fuel, some stuff in the back of the truck, and nothing taken off), so I might be able to get it to a 13.6 or 13.7 by stripping it down a little. The 35s aren't helping me either, but a low 13 isn't gonna be easy in these 3rd gens w/ a 6 speed. I would guess at least 650 with a fairly light truck and some fast shifting.

my boss runs a 13.2 in the quarter with a six speed, and he cant shift that fast. i think hes dyno'n close to 600 now, but the last quarter time was when he was closer to 530 -550. he has a 3500 single rear wheel, quad short bed, and runs in 4x4

bama,

Yes, it ran a best of 17.4 when it was bone stock with the addition of 315s when the truck was 3 days old and had ~200 miles on it. A buddy of mine had an '03 just like mine with the addition of a scotty RA3, 5" exhaust, and a short shifter, and he ran a tenth quicker. The autos were besting us by about 4 tenths that day (stock to stock).

Look at the bottom of his signature for the 60' time. Just thought I would help out. It just amazes me watching John or anybody else drive at the track shifting these monsters.

Hello
I have a strong running "stock truck " that runs 16s, I have 429 Hp. I am still wondering how John shifts as fast as he does. My truck is a 01 with the 6 speed, great for towing stuff not so good for racing.

I am thinking that if you want to race then go with the "SHIFTLESS" and run better times. It is easy to just put it to the floor and run it till you get to the end of the track.

The stick shift folks loose the boost with each shift at least a bunch of it anyway.

Oh Yeah I love my TRUCK
See Ya

Smurf,
What mods did you add to get to the 427 h.p.?

Thanks

Hello Mr. Wilson
I have a set of EDM II, Edge Easy Box, TST PM 3 ( I refer to as my smoke box), Schield Hybred turbo 35/40 and a South bend clutch.
If I did it over again I would have bought EDM III and not bought the TST. I learned after I bought the TST that the HO trucks don't really care for boxes and like to have better injectors. It is a injection pump thing.

Don't get me wrong The 2004, 3500 we have, I bought a TST PMCR for it and now that the transmission is done. I can tell you this "that box makes the truck move." We had the setting on 4/4 and from a stop light on a wet road way when I laid into the throttle all the rear wheels did is spin. When you step on the go pedal to pass you get set back in the seat and you are moving.
My wife will be racing her truck in our race on the 2 of April. I am thinking she will be running either in the low 15s or the high 14s in the quarter mile.

I am not going to line up against her, she will beat me bad. I have a 6 speed in my 2001 and she has a shift-less (automatic) in her truck.

Hope to meet you
See Ya
Chris

Thanks for the advice, those numbers are right where I would like to be. I was considering tapping the IP wire but maybe I will just go up to a mach 3 rather than doing that. I would guess that would get me close and I will most likely go with the mad ecm as well.

Good luck at the races, let us know how your runs go.
