Most of the parts that I buy for my truck say right on them, "For Offroad Use Only. Not Legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles." But as long you keep all of your emissions stuff on there and it's not making too much noise I don't think the cops will mess with you.
Then again, the whole point of stacks is to make your truck super loud.

I been running stacks for over a year and haven't had a problem. I have been though 2 road checks and most think they are pretty cool. Never had any problem, even when I went to get me carry permit and was showing them off for a couple of deputies in the sherriff/court house parking lot. I am running a 4in areoturbine muffler and resonator. I think most of the time if you aren't playing to hard or to loud they will just leave you alone. But there is always one that wants to make a point.

just my .02

Just a quick one here guys, check this out. It's for Pennsylvania and Light Duty Diesel trucks APPLY. http://www.pacode.com/secure/data/06...5/s175.80.html. I'm not saying "that it is illegal to have anything other than oem eqipment on a vehicle". Don't forget, law for the most part was written for interpretation. Police interpret it and the Judge enforces it. I'm not saying its right.....

Or, how about the following:

(viii) The exhaust does not discharge to the outside edge of the vehicle body, including a truck bed, or as originally designed.

Well, I guess you could include the top of the cab as an "outside edge" of the vehicle body

In the commonwealth of Virginia any modification to the exhaust that is not OEM you can be stopped. I was stopped when I had my Silverline duals with the muffler and I was ticketted. I played dumb and asked to see it in writing, and sure enough I was handed a rather thick blue book that clearly states any modification to a vehicles exhaust is illegal. I then said well my truck is quieter than stock, where is your decible meter . And I was told I really didnt want to pull that card, my exhaust was modified and it would be in my best interest to take the tickett and just pay it. I was also advised that the officer had a few repeat offenders, and the court ordered they return the vehicles to stock. They had 30 days to re-appear with a reciet showing they had done so. If you need to see it for yourself, please go drive in Fairfax city and I assure you you can read all about it after you get pulled over.
Its a matter of time befor I get hit for my stacks, but I dont care. .

I've got tickets for modified exhaust, no points and a small fine, just pay them on the rare occasions when you get one.
