5" bull haulers and cops!

Anyone have any trouble getting pulled over while running stacks in TN or VA?

There are at least 5 trucks around here I know of with stacks. I've never heard of one being pulled over. One guy I know personally has a 7.3 PSD and has run stacks for about 5 years now and hasn't been pulled over for them.
Your biggest problem would be from the VA State Police for noise, but not stacks in themselves.

Where exactly in the TN/VA area are you? I live in VA but work in Kingsport.

God bless Texas

My last truck had stacks, previous cars were either 3" duals dumped, or just straight X/H pipe all of which were plenty loud!
Never had a single problem from the police about noise(or emissions)

Here in Kali, if the exhaust exits to the side, it must be lower than 2 feet or higher than 11 feet.

I says nothing about stacks.

Hey Guy's/Girls,
Just an FYI and I don't agree ! If you have "anything" that isn't offered from the factory, that in itself is enough to stop, question and site upon. You can be written a citation on anything that’s not "offered" from the dealer/manufacture and or factory. Again I don't agree, but that's the way it works thru out the United States or a Commonwealth. Don’t give anybody a reason to stop you, they will! Your best option is to respect the person that stops you and play "dumb"! Ignorance of the law isn't an excuse but it works as an option in some places. Good luck and keep the power on the high side. I've prepared myself for the on slot of emails that are coming my way. I'm still on your side!

Stacks ARE illegal in Virginia, Dieseldude was ticketed by a State Trooper and took it to court. Judge confirmed the legality issue and fined him if I recall correctly.

Basically if you modify the stock system you are in violation, then it is the discretion of the Officer whether he chooses to pull you over and cite you for it.

Sorry but someone will have to show me an actual law where it say's that it is illegal to have anything other than oem eqipment on a vehicle. If it was so illegal then all of the aftermarket part we put on our trucks would have to be bought on the black market.

just my .02

There is also a law on the books here regarding modified exhaust systems......although I know of nobody who has been busted.

It's BS anyway. I guess if it isn't too loud or smokey, you wouldn't draw attention in the first place.
