48re rebuild?
Any one familiar with rebuilding the 48re on this site? How hard is it if you buy the rebuild kit from suncoast. Is it really something impossible to do without a transmission shop?

some special tools needed to get the entire case empty may be cheaper to pull it and take it to a good tranny shop Most places around here charge around 300.00 labor to R&R a trans if you pull it out

I don't mean to be rude but if you use the search option, you will find at least 2 hours worth of education on it. Once you get it dialed into exactly what you want to do & have some ?'s, then these guys will tell you more than you could ever imagine! I hope this helps you & you don't take it the wrong way.

I have the 06 Dodge cd which tells you step by step how to tear it down, and assemble, and has all the specs. I just didnt know if it could be done without a tranny shop or if anyone else has taken this project on themselves. And like you said about asking those guys, it would be nice to talk to them about anything to look out for, or any tricks.

i think you might need a press and maybe some other tools. if you have the knowlegde and tools it would be a great way to save some cabbage. me on the other hand have no clue about tranny stuff so would have to take it somewhere and let them deal with it
