48re need a new transmission. Recomended dealers ?
looks as if mine has expired I TOW TRAILERS A LOT and want a heavy duty replacement
has any one used performance auto's Viper transmission ?
or can recomend others

Check out www.gbtransmissions.com or www.dieseltrans.com . Either one will give you straight forward advise as to what will do the job.

its not right to pay 45k for a work truck and have to buy an after market transmission.

I think it is more how you drive than what you tow. Case in point-my Dad's 96 3500 has about 70K miles and everyone of them has been lugging around 17,500 lbs!! No problems.

Fluid changes are very important as well, more often if you tow. Try adding another trans cooler? Deeper pan? Good luck

Put DTT in at 34000, just have about 2000 on this tranny, I've towed from 12000 to 26000, it shifts just as crisp at 26000 as 12000.

For someone who tows 7-9Klbs every two weeks for about 130mile trip, How often should I change the tranny fluid? Has 15.5K miles on it right now.

I'd do a flush every 30k and fliter/flush at 90k.
