I've been reading about the 48RE, and was wondering how you can tell if the TC is slipping? I know if it's slipping the temperatures will rise, but can you feel it. Can you see something in your RPM's when going through the gears? I had my tranny serviced about 2k miles ago at the dealer. Maybe it's just the heat around here, but I've noticed it running hotter. I believe before the service the temps never got above 150 just running around town. Now I can see 180, and I'm not really pushing that hard. I have my EZ on level 4, by the way. I towed our TT (9k) 1500 miles two weeks ago with the EZ on 4, and the tranny temps never got above 185. So I'm just wondering. Does everybody else see these temps? Like I said it used to not go over 150 unless I was towing. Fluid levels are good. Could they have put the wrong ATF in, and would that cause higher temps? Could it be just hot temps here in Houston mid 90's. Thanks for the help

The way I know is that if the motor revs a lil then goes into gear after you already going. If you see or hear the RPMs going up then it might be wise to get it checked out. Im also in houston/sugarland area and in the project truck we see temps around 180* or so. Also have you checked the tranny cooler make sure nothing is blocking it other than the stuff that should be there....like a plastic bag or anything that could have flown up around the cooler.

Hope this helps alil I knmow someone else will chime in.

I would go talk to the dealer and tell them that you are concerned about reading higher temps. since your last tranny service.

If they are a good dealer they will be just as curious about this as you are.

Thanks for the reply. I do notice this when the tranny goes into overdrive. It revs up a couple hundred RPM and then the RPM's go down around 1600 after it's in OD. The wierd thing about this is I never noticed it untill the service. I guess I need to take it to the dealer and have them check it out.
