awesome! wanna hear something else that will amaze ya? i was at a tire store about 6 mo. ago and an older gentlemen drives in with a 3500 CTD flat bed (cant remember the year, newer model) and it had 750,000 on the clock!
i couldn't beleive it. he was from the baton rouge area.
he said he uses a special oil which he purchases in 5 gal. buckets(?). i should have paid closer attention to what it was

Yours doesnt have a block heater? Look beside the oil filter housing, should be a little plug in the block you can just buy a $15 heater cord and hook it up.
May not have done it on all trucks, but im pretty sure most '05+s come with the plug and you just need to buy the cord.

If you are right about the cord, I am going on a serious drinking binge tonight. No one ever told me about it.
With some of these posts I am beginning to think miles on a cummins really don't mean alot. It's everything else that I need to look at. Sound accurate? If this is the case I am going to put some power to it. Perhaps it will make a pull on the sled this fall... My wife has actually asked me when the truck will be turned into a full time smoker. Can I stack over the triple dog safely? The most I would want to spend would be 5k including tranny build.

Yeah, I have not seem a 05 Cummins without the heater. Do yourself a favor and get the cord at a heavy truck parts place. They are like 15$ and Dodge wants 40+. I have the intake heater removed from my truck so I plug it in anytime its below freezing.

If its not starting cold you may have other issues. If the compression is strong and injectors are good it should start at sub-zero temps without plugging it in.

I would just keep on truckin and keep after the maintenance. You will find the weak parts like the rest of us and replace them as needed. Any U-joints yet?
I wasn't going where you think.

400K is impressive.

That's great, How many hours would also be pretty intersting, especially considering you've done some overnight idle sessions!

(To check, put key to on position, put odometer reading on display, hold button till hours show up.)

Average of 45mph.

Very impressive. I have 80k on mine... I guess it's just getting broke in.

My normal interstate speed was 68. With that in mind, the idling has added alot of hours. Doesn't use any oil so it must not effect it.

Last year I had a horse trailer delivered to me.Truck was a 05 4x4 6 speed srw quad cab. 550,000 and change on the odometer.BONE STOCK.1 clutch,1 set of brake pads,2 sets of u/joints,one front crank seal and sleeve(chronic leak)fixed by sleeve kit.Regular maintenance.Owner said NO MODS as he had buddy's with all kinds of mods that broke down, got there no faster, pulled no more weight and really got no better fuel mileage plus had the added expense of mods including gear splitters etc.Truck was on its way to being rough.Seat badly worn, tail gate dented bad, tons of rock chips etc.Had a horse delivered here also last year and that truck was a 06 standard cab 2wd 6 speed dually.Owner had truck about 30 days and it had 28k and change on it! That's SOME driving.
