4" vs. 5"
I know it has been discussed a lot in here but I am looking for some more info.
With my mods, will I see drop in EGT's vs. a stock straight piped? If I do get the 5" it will be straight piped also. Too start with anyway.
The reason I am looking into the 5" is for a deeper sound, but I am not going to spend the money just for "sound". If I could see a 100 deg. drop that would be good enough for me. By the way I will get the 5" downpipe also.

Man I wonder why it would make the spool up slower, I guess (just my thought) that it wouldn't hurt it because all the drive pressure is before the exhaust wheel. But I don't know just my thought?

I just ordered a 5" exhaust w/ muffler by expandit. Comes with true 5" downpipe. $350 on ebay with free shipping and no tax. If you are still looking, check it out.
I have and 04 so I also have a 4" exhaust elbow and clamp coming from Makeitmopar.com. $36 for new elbow.
Good luck with your choice.

I didnt see any temp drop or anything differant goin from a 4" straight pipe to 5" straight pipe. This was before the SPS. I couldnt tell any differance really except the tone. Sounds much better now. Has a deeper tone and to me isnt as loud as my last exhaust. Dont get me wrong, it is loud but it aint that bad. It was worth it to me cause all I wanted was the differance in sound, I knew I wouldnt see any performance gains. Mine was 300 sipped.
Just remember, if its too loud your too old.

i was just about to pose the question 4" vs 5", so quick question and i'll get off your thread, with mild mods (70-100hp) will a 4" exhaust be sufficient? would there be any benifit with going to a 5" with only moderate mods?

4" vs. 5"
I've struggled with this for a long time. My wife says she prefers the 4" because the 'drone' is not as obvious; but my girlfriend says she really can't tell the difference with 5". My wife swears it's not so much the size of the exhaust that makes the difference, but how I drive the vehicle. I tend to agree with her because when my girlfriend is riding along she says her ex-boyfriend had 5" and it did not give the same seat-of-the-pants feel that my 4" gives. Another plus for the 4" is she said there's less back-pressure than she's experienced with the 5" exhaust, which means she noticed higher levels of performance. After giving this a lot of thought, and discussing it with both parties, my wife thought the money would be better spent on stacked modules and my girlfriend voted for the upgraded injector pump that doesn't run dry after a hard launch.
