4" Stainless Steel Exhaust Shootout
OK guys, I've had the truck a month now, and accessories are already calling my name. Trying to decide on a 4" stainless exhaust system. Wondering what the consensus is, or if there is one on a few of the systems. The Diesel Performance Parts system looks nice but its a lot more expensive than some of the others. The Banks system is a lot more reasonably priced, and I thought I read that it bolts up to the turbo. Just curious what people thought the best 4" system was? I've heard the DPP has a drone on the highway... I'd prefer to be drone free. What if any EGT reductions have you 3rd genners with gauges seen from exhaust installs? THANKS!

Lightman, good thread! What Banks system are you referring too? It seemed that all the Banks systems that I saw were high priced systems as well. Which isn't necesarily a bad thing - you often get what you pay for, especially in exhaust systems.
I like Diesel Performance Parts Dual exhaust, BTW. It keeps calling my name..... even when I plug my ears.

Bulabula - the banks monster 4" is the one I was referring to. Its available for $675 or so.. the dpp 4" single was around $859 I think.
Guys who have these systems, how are you liking them? Pros/cons?

i took a dpp system off and went to banks. bad drone and way to loud dpp. banks still has a slight drone but only when pulling hard. lots or fuel. dpp is a heavier wall stainless, banks is thinner. others have no complaint with dpp and complain about banks. so who knows. if i was to do it over again, i would either stay stock and watch the temps or buy the banks system.

Re:4" Stainless Steel Exhaust Shootout
In the past ,one selling point of the Banks system was that the cast iron turbo outlet was replaced giving you an actual 4" exhaust turbine to tailpipe. The same holds true for the exhaust brakes. Now to look at the pictures on the Banks website I don't see the "monster" cast elbow.

Is the Banks system still a true 4" front to rear or is there a post turbo constriction?
If it's 4" all the way I vote for the Banks system. If there is a constriction, my money will go for a Hog exhaust.

FYI, there is a guy selling a system that is clearly "HOG" on e-bay.

I'm going to vote for my DPP 4" kit. The kit is high quality, it went on without issue, and it sounds great.
I've not noticed a drone with it at 80+ mph on the interstate, and it's not much louder than stock unless you're really laying into the throttle. However, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the kits.

Re:4" Stainless Steel Exhaust Shootout
I have the DPP dual kit on my truck, so my vote goes for them. I have noticed a slight drone about 2000 rpm. It does not bother me. I chose the DPP system for the thicker walls and the better grade of Stainless that they use. I bought one system that I expect will last as long as the truck which should be just about forever. ;D

Re:4" Stainless Steel Exhaust Shootout
The DPP line offers two grades of stainless. One is made of T409 stainless to compare with the Banks system of the same quality. It retails for $689.99. I sell DPP and HOG systems, contact me for details. The price listed earlier for a Banks system does not include the described "Power Elbow" that is almost a $300 option (in reference to 94-2002 models).
