I bought the banks downpipe because I didnt know of anyone else who had a true 4" from the turbo
DD may or may not have one , I dont know , didnt call them
Keith is a member here , maybe he will chime in
the banks one is quite nice and will replace my elbow which does start as 4" at the turbo and end at 3.5" to the DP
the DP was a bit pricey but still cheaper than trying to find a 4" cast elbow and worth every penny if you want to have the benefits of a smooth flowing exhaust
I will be using my banks DP in conjunction with a 5" system
I may have to do a little fabrication to make it transition as smooth as I want but... thats what I do

Nitro,
I went with the whole Bank's 4" system. Frankly, I didn't notice much difference in sound or performance. Fuel milage went up about 1 mpg, that could also be a function of breaking in though I'm at 15,000 now, but I did notice the difference immediately after the exhaust install.
Now, I finally got my Ram Air III installed. That in combination with the "free-er" flowing exhaust seemed to wake the truck up quite a bit.

Thanks for the info Command!
I'm looking at trying just the DP from banks (making the stock system a true 4", or possibley going the the Jeg's system for about 100 bucks more than the Banks DP.......
Thanks again,
Rich

I went ahead and ordered the Banks Stainless DP........ It was just under 200 with shipping (wich I didn't think it was that bad since it replaced the cast elbow).
I plan on just using there DP, some 4' straight pipe out of the DP into a after maket muffler (donalson, flow pro, etc) and then just using the stock 4" tail pipe for the stealth look
I'll post some Dyno numbers once I have my Cold air box built and I have put the exhaust on the truck.........

Nitro, your reading my mind on the exhaust. It sounds like you will beat me too it, so please keep me up on the details. I am going to use a Donaldson...I have heard NO DRONE!

I'll keep you posted.... I'd expect it will be about 3 weeks or so before it's installed....... I want to get dyno numbers with just my Cold Air box first, then with the exhaust mods added as well..... I have yet to build the Cold air box and it will come before the exhaust.............
I will post what I find out, as well as what's used.

4" Down Pipe
We have the Banks down pipes that replace the cast elbow off the turbo which we feel is the best down pipe configuration. We also have 4" aluminized down pipes, but they all come off of the cast elbow. Its really not that much more for the Banks down pipe and performance is worth it.

Where is the best source for a 4" down pipe and intermed pipes (most cost effective - aka cheapest!)? I would like to run a 4" into a monster Donalson and use the OEM tail pipe.
Thanks!

Hey Guys,
I got the DP today from Banks. A picture of it is at the link below.
http://coldair-intakes.com/dp.jpg
It will be about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks before I install it. I'm currently building a Cold Air Intake system for our trucks (that's cost effective) and want stock HP numbers as well as EGT#'s in stock form and with the Box I will be selling. Once I have the numbers (next week) I'll stick the Banks DP on with a FlowPro muffler and the stock Tail pipe to see what that adds HP wise and what it does with the EGT's as well.
I will post the out come of the dyno just as soon as I get the numbers....

I'm 98% sure my turbo exhaust elbow is 4". The exhaust pipe starts at 4" where it connects to the elbow, then necks down to 3.5" within the first 4 or 5 inches. Does anyone else have this?
I was wondering if i got an aftermarket exhaust, would it be a true 4 inch down pipe, or a 3.5 inch that goes into a 4 inch pipe

There is confusion at the dealer (mine anyway) as to what fits what. They acknowledged that some 03s escaped with full 4" elbows, but frankly they don't know what part to use of one of these came in with a need for a new downpipe -- because there is only one part number for the downpipe and that is a 3.5" pipe that bolts up to the smaller cast elbow.
So although I don't know for sure, I would suggest that any 4" bolt-up exhaust won't bolt up!

Well.....
What I'm personally doing is going with the banks DP at 190.00 bucks (it takes the guess work out of the elbow delima). Some straight 4 inch pipe into a "flopro 6192 muffler 85.00 bucks shipped. and using the stock tail pipe. If your patient, I will have some dyno numbers by the middle or end of next week. I think this is a very cost effective way to get a great system. The Dyno numbers and egt's will tell the story.
