325/600 or 610 (stock) owners...

I have a question before i go and finally buy a box. I used a 6.0 ( ) this weekend to haul a couple horses to an expo in PA. anyways the owner had a superchips programmer in it and he said it was on the highest setting, anyways i really liked how it pulled up all the mountains and hills i went through, no real problem at all... nothing like my truck. my truck bogs down when it sees a hill while im pulling. so anyways i was wondering how you 325/600/610 guys (stock) like your truck while pulling up hill? lets say with around 10 to 11,000 pounds... will your trucks bog down at all or will it keep 65 mph all the way up the hill no problem? im wanting to know this so i can see if just boosting my hp/tq up to the specs of the 325/600/610 area will help my truck pull these hills A LOT better...
also i of course plan on getting gauges before then. but other than my transmission will anything else have a problem with the chip? and im hoping my tranny will be ok with it on a setting enough to meet the 325/600 setting.... thanks all for the help
Eric

P.s. ive been off the forum for a while now, any new chips come out that are pretty good and just as easy as the edge ez? this is within the past 2-3 months....

All I have right now is intake and exhaust mods. My trucks pulls my work trailer ( about 6,000lbs ) like it's not there. Have had a friends loaded horse trailer on once before with four horses and tack and gear. That load was at least 10k. I could feel the difference from my work trailer but the rig never really bogged down. Hope that helps some.

Although I have a 6 spd. versus your auto, I can tell you my 6 spd. stock pulls as good as my 01 w/ an EZ. I regularly pull around 12k, either hauling hay or g-neck 4 horse w/ 4 or 5 animals and can maintain 70 to 75 on our hills with our altitude. fwiw

I pull a 8000 lbs equipment trailer with truck (see specs below) with no problems on hills. Run with speedcontrol set at 65mph and sit back and relax. In 6th gear by the way. The real question is what grade of hills you are climbing. Then we can compare apples to apples. I am very impressed with my trucks performance when towing. Takes a little time to get up to speed but once your there it is unstoppable! By the way truck is completely stock.

I thought 03So was 250hp and 505 torque and the CA version was 235/460.

Make sure you have a 48re and not a 47re. Are you coming out of OD when the hill approaches. Lots of torque management in 4th to save the OD from detonating. 3rd should have plenty with 12k trailer.

The edge EZ is easy enough to take off and on, so ask someone to borrow one for a weekend and do a little test... But first put on a EGT gauge... I bet you will really like a "small box" on your truck....

my 305/555 pulls my jeep / gear / trailer (8k worth) up any hill I point it at in OD. But take off the box and it will come out of OD on the same hill.

Check out the sites and E-bay for EZ's there are a few of them for sale right now...

Good luck,
Dave

thanks all for the replys, im positive i have the 48re, i wish i got the 6 spd, i do pull out of OD and it helps on the hills. i made a thread a couple days ago asking if its ok taking it out of OD going 65 mph coming up to a hill. im kinda afraid taking it out of OD going that fast but not sure if it will hurt anything.... my SO is 250/460...

how will my tranny hold up to the extra power? what about any other part of my engine/drivetrain? thanks again

If you have a 48RE then you have a 48RE. That is what is behind the 325/610s so unless you add enough to exceed that HP and Torque you should not have any problems.
