32000 Miles and Injectors Shot!
Took My truck into the dealer about three weeks ago due to the fact that it was running rough as heck and it was very hard to start!! Fact is one cold morning it wouldn't start! They called me and said that I have injectors that are shot! They stated that it was covered under warranty (but if I ever came in with red deisel again they wouldn't work on it). Now I know it wasn't the red diesel because I had only filled up from a friend's tank that I helped him move some supplies and he bought fuel!! So I don't really care that they went out no matter what anyone says nothing these days are built to last. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade my cummins for a powerjoke or a durashi* any day of the week. But my concerns are it's been a month now and they still don't have any injectors, and the technician told me that I could come and get my pick-up and they would call me when they came in to replace them. He did not tell me which ones were out! I have called around to cerified cummins dealers and tryed to find out if I was getting led-on or what the deal was and everyone I was talking to said that all of the new injectors are on backorder!! No problem, my other concern is that it can't be real healthy for my truck running on bad injectors! It runs a little rough and smokes like a bad ***!! I can completely black out an intersection with no problem. That is pretty coool though!
So what should I do? I am thinking about looking into 90 hp injectors and just paying to have them installed. I also tow a 29' enclosed trailer to work everyday and put on 60-150 miles a day. I don't hot rod it at all but I am worried about the long term effects on the motor? Maybe some of you gentlemen with a little knowledge on the motor could give me some advice!!
Thanks Shane
