Just my opinion...

But i am wondering why you want wheels that big with tires that small?

i am wondering the same thing....

20 inch rims are cheap now, in a variety of patterns.
they look good on our body style due to the tall flat sides of the body/bed.

but my wife don't want to climb any higher to get in.

the guys with 19.5 Rickson's are basically doing the same thing,
and saying how GREAT it is to have a bigger rim & smaller sidewall for stability.

cruise thru www.rickson.com and search the threads on here.
seems to be a good setup

i just want to see more pics/pers opinoins/ideas before i do anything.

"never be the first to do something expensive...it usually hurts"

what tire size in a 20 would be comparable to the 315 or 285/70/17 OEM replacement tires?

Everyone on here is saying the 285 is the hot ticket for 4:10 geared trucks

It would depend on the width of the tire and the backspacing of the rim...but 20X11 might be cutting it very close, you might need a leveling kit to clear the fronts.

Not to ruin your day but if you posted pic's of 33's on 20's I don’t think anybody would think it "looks awsome" more of a lame waste of money.

HAHA I just read you want 11" wide

That would look TERRIBLE.

I think it would be a big hit at one of the mini truck low rider shows

i dont want to lift the truck, i like mud grappler tires and i also like 20" rims its the only combo i can think of, 20x11's wont fit anyway so im will go with 20x9.5 are 20x9's. how can it look that funny arent the new strokes running 20's with like a 33 are close to it ?? i dont think it looks bad

NO WAY, dont even try the 20x10s w/o a lift. I have that exact set up w/33"s and a 2" level kit and it rubs like a @#%!^. It drives me crazy but it looks awesome, and I'm not the only one who thinks so, everyone I run into comments on the wheels and tires. One other problem is this tire/wheel combo slings crap all up and down the side of the truck, even w/ fender flares. I think if I could do it over I would go w/ 20x9s, but it does look pretty mean as it is. Yeah, I could trim the fender just a tad and it would be fine, I just don't want to cut on anything. I'll post pics some day when I get off my butt and figure out how.

chw,

Why would you mix an off road mud tire with strictly street wheels?
You'll get minumun flex of the tires when you need off road traction and you'll get banged up wheels. Espscially with that width. On the street you'll get noise and faster wear with off road tires. Oh wait, I get it, all show and no go. Ok, yeah, cool. And with 11" wide wheels you can count on lots of rubbing. Enjoy.

WHat justifies a "street wheel", because it's 20" in diameter?? Now 11" wide is a little crazy, but anyone who thinks a 20" wheel is for "onroad" use only needs to open their eyes to today's world. It's obvious that a shorter sidewall is going to ride rough, that wasn't the question. Wheels are only getting larger in diameter(on factory vehicles) these days, half the aftermarket 17" wheels won't even fit an 03-06 dodge ram, brake calipers are too large. It wont be long before dodge is putting 18" and 20" wheels on 3/4 and 1 ton trucks whether you like it or not. Ford is already there! I've got the Nitto A/T tires and 1600 acres in central Texas, and if you know central TX, there are rocks and cactus EVERYWHERE! My tires hold up fine and my wheels are just about perfect(most agressive tires have wheel/rim guards on the side wall).

So, if everyone set their truck up the exact same as everyone else... where would the fun be? Sure, lets all just fall under the rule of a dictator.

You came here seeking tech advice, not belittling - so, from what i know, your 20x11s will more than likely rub on a stock truck. no matter the back spacing. I would promote the 20x9s and use a b.s. no smaller than 4.5" Stock being 6.5" for reference. If the wheels put the tire outboard more, you will rub the fenders while turning, if they are inboard too much, then you will hit your control arms. Just use some good measurements and logic and you will come out free and clear!

IMO I think you would proly be happier with a 9.5" rim. A buddy of mine has this size and the truck looks good. With a 2" leveling kit and a little plastic trimming no rubbing and the tirese stick out a good ways. I have 20x8.5 and with the leveling kit no problems and with a 35x1250 it looks good and you still have 7.5" of rubber

sorry to steal the thread, but i've been thinking about lowering my 03 about 1/1.5" front and rear and putting in 20's with some low pro street tires...is that a fallacy, or can it be done? I noticed that everyones been suggesting a leveling kit for 20's on 33's, will it be much of a difference running low pros?
thanks
