Thanks for the replies. I am not sticking my foot in the throttle. I am trying to get the best MPG not the most power. I know the difference in driving styles.

Timing simply affects where the fuel is injected before top dead center. You can gain up to 40 hp through timing alone (other conditions affect just what that gain will be) that is extra HP with no extra fuel. Why? Because earlier timing raises cylinder pressure and therefore greater downforce energy produced. Why don't manufactures do this? Emissions. Earlier timing produces more soot and more nox.
So the rule of thumb is as much timing as you can stand the rattle will produce the best results.
TQ (torque management) in the simplest of terms is throttle "touchiness" and the amount of fuel provided off idle and the it also controls the amount of defuel between shifts in the transmission. TQ simply adds fuel... it certainly enhances the driving feel, but uses more fuel and is harder on the transmission. This has little to no practical effect on manual transmission engines. For best fuel economy, leave it in default or 1.

It seems after having a overhead run and some performance tests(supposedly) run, I have some type of injector problem. I think the guy who checked my truck ripped me off because he said he did cylinder cut-outs but couldn't tell me anything that was wrong with any given cylinder. My truck does have a little more vibration than it should. The truck seems to run fine, just not getting good fuel mileage. Could one injector be a little out of spec causing poor performance?

Hand checked at the setting in the previous post. 12.99 mpg. Freaking terrible with the Smarty. I returned the truck to stock, uninstalled the Smarty. Instantly saw the overhead go up about 4 mpg. Now that may not be accurate but I will check the mileage again asap. I wonder if something else is wrong that is killing my mileage with the Smarty. Could the Smarty be flawed?
I get about 18 MPG solo and between 11 and 12 MPG towing a 12,000# 5th whl.
Good luck-John

I have an Edge Juice CS and it is set on power level 3 and if I do a real time check with the overhead it shows I get between 23-26MPG at 60mph with the cruise on. Around the city not so good with the stop and go but not bad on highway.

I saw no noticeable difference in mileage with the Smarty Jr. I have noticed when calculating mileage you gotta go thru a couple tanks. It's hard to fill up exactly the same each time, and the less miles on the tank the easier it is to have a wild swing in perceived mpg. Of course, my driving is so varied on the truck that it's hard to get a "normal" tank, but it's about the same as always. I will say that the Jr. made the overhead less wild. It was easy to make the overhead read 25 before, not so much now.
