hi new to site got a problem im hoping you can help me with have 2006 5.9 air conditiong wont work took to dealer sayed i need a computer every else on truck works fine just no air. compressor good freeon good problem is this computer is around 3000 been driving 2 years no air had enough very hot truck was trying to figure out how to bypass computer need thrmostat switch sounds simple to me but cant seem to fine switch that would work much like house thermostate may be parts are cheaper down there im north of boarder manitoba any help would be appreciated

Your issue sounds like the compressor clutch issue. I doubt it is the computer. Take it to a different shop. Do a search on here. There is a fix for it. The problem is the compressor clutch is drawing too much current. The cheap fix is to run it through a single pole/single through relay. Trigger it with the factory clutch wire, etc. Do a search on here. Look in the 3rd gen non drivetrain forum.

i don't think Spooler meant the clutch itself. I think what he is saying is the clutch pulls too much juice for the factory wiring and circuit in the computer for whatever reason. If you put a relay in there it will reduce the load on that and should engage the clutch. If that doesn't make it work, hook a switch up to trigger the relay and see if that works. You will probably have to manually cycle it on and off every now and then to keep the evaporator from freezing up though. And you might want to run it through the high pressure switch also too. Someone else might want to comment on that though.

thanks for the advice ive had two people look at other than dealer. i have to talk to them on monday i think the one person in my shop said power was going in to the computer no power coming out also on further diagnosis we found the compressor clutch was fried so we replaced it still no air . so im trying to figure how to work around the computer. and to keep the system working properly. sorry if im repeating my self what would be the cost of the computer where u are thanks again . in a nutshell im trying to save 3000 and still have good reliable air. we were hoping it was a broken wire dealer said replace computer . dont know how hard they looked also trust issue

Total intergrated power modul is 1200 in wv. I had to replace my whole compressor to fix it. What code dose the system show?

Thats how the local dealer diagonsed mine.

dont know the code never asked ..i replaced the clutch had to buy the compressor with the clutch only come together.. left old compressor on ..compressor turns over with hand figure its ok no power still to the clutch ..thought it odd that clutch and computer both need to be replaced but if i can buy computer for 1200 that easies the pain

There's a good company on eBay that sells the clutches seperat from a compressor.

manitoba price for ecm part# RL179027AA is 2900.00.. North Dakota price 2175.00 .. labour on install 200.00.. if you can get it signifinitley cheaper please let me know .. and if i can use a used one? they sayed at the dearler ship u cannot thanks again for any help

They should have put the diagonict code on the work order if not Id call and see if they have it on file.

thanks on the compressor thats great info ...but what about computer part #RL179027AA some one said you could buy it for 1200... if thats true where..my best price north dakota was 2200 ...thanks guy
