2005 intercooler question

I was involved in a wreck that crushed my intercooler and radiator. I was wondering if the replacemant will be metal or plastic? My original was plastic and from what I gather, the metal one seems to be better. I ran a search and came up with mixed answers. Someone stated that 2006 models were all metal??? Thanks for the help in advance.

If you are getting the intercooler from the dealer than it will be the metal one. I know that here the dealership is replacing the blown plastic intercoolers with metal ones.

Plastic, for an intercooler???? That is a new one to me. I would imagine that the thermal properties of metal are far superior to plastic, also stronger.

The early 05's came with a plastic intercooler. DC finally wised up after replacing a bunch and switched back to the metal ones. DUH!

Put in an aftermarket, the ins. co. will flip the bill and you'll probably get a few $$ back. Ins. co's use aftermarket parts whenever they can so why shouldn't you.

The other person ins. company is paying and the adjuster said it would be an aftermarket intercooler and at the time I didn't ask which one or who makes it. I see alot of BD and Banks stuff advertised but would they really put one of those on my truck?? (good for me if so)

Aftermarket crash parts on a '05? Don't let them talk you into that (unless it's a free performance upgrade)! Practically brand new OEM parts were damaged through no fault of your own and that is what you are entitled to as replacements.

PS: My late '05 came with an all metal intercooler, as are the OEM replacements.
