I found a deal on a 06/07 head swap for my 2003 for 1650.00 plus shipping. Its already o-ringed and has HD springs. What are the pros and cons? No matter what I decide to do , there has to be shipping charges because of the fact that no one here locally has the ability to work on my head. I THINK it is a direct replacement. Nothing needs to be replaced besides a gasket, everything else is swapped over.

 

I do think the injectors are different but I may be wrong. Other than that I think everything else is the same. I do know the injector tips are different but not sure if the body's are different.

 

Injectors are definitely different. I think the spray angle is wrong, as well as the # of injection events they are setup for.

You can just change the nozzles but still use the injectors. 1650 is not a bad deal when it is already o-ringed. Cummins re-maned heads are 1250.

But i am assuming the head does not come with injectors, so use your existing ones, use a marine 12v gasket with the o-rings (make sure all the necessary passages are opened) and you're golden.

yes the head is a drop on replacement, injector bodies are the same, nozels are diferent.

you dont have studs listed, but i assume you'll be doing those at the same time..?

The head is from zach at hamilton diesel, he is still 8 hours away from me. He told me everything swaps over, even the injector tips. The tips spray pattern affects the pistion not the head. He wants 900 for the head, 400 to o-ring it, and 300 for springs. Yes I will be buying the 130TQ studs from Haisley. Idont know much about the marine gasket..How does that work?

 

If you are getting it from Zach, he knows what he is doing and will steer you right. Just ask him about the gasket and he may set you up so all you have to do is install.
