The new 6 speeds are great for pulling stumps!! But unloaded interstate cruising is not their forte, given the rpms they turn. They will turn about 3-400 rpms higher than an auto tranny with 3:73 gears.
Don't take what im saying as a knock against the G56 6 speed, just understand the differences and how they will apply to your usage.

The G-56 pulls like a dream, but be prepared for lower mileage figures. If you get it with the 4.10, you might as not even compute mileage. It wont really matter

RamTD02, my bad, you're right. The G56 only comes with 3.73's
With my 4x4 QC Dually (10k on engine) I'm averaging the (hand calc'ed) following:
city/rural (45 mph) - 16.8 mpg
Highway (70) - 15.3mph
Pulling (10k lbs - 75mph - 2600rpm - flat land) - 8.5 mpg
Pulling (10k lbs - 70mph - 2300rpm - flat land) - 9.7 mpg
Pulling (10k lbs - 62mph - 2000rpm - flat land) - 11.8 mpg
Overhead is dead on when pulling, off 2 mpg unladen.
