It really does pretty well in snow and ice. It's a little wild when that big rear end starts sliding sideways but rarely do you have to kick it into 4 wheel to get you through. There is a bit of tire scrub when you make turns but not as much as you might think. The tires on the front rear axle tend to wear just a bit faster than the rear but only slightly. The ride is very smooth but as long as it is it's much like driving a straight truck or a short bus. You don't get any up close spaces in a parking lot.

I noticed for suspension you said it has the BDS long arm lift kit. I wounder, How does the leaf springs in the back work? It doesn't look like there is enough room between the axles to simply get two sets of springs , even if the 2 center perches shared a mounting point on the frame.

I know USA 6x6 made one of the vehicles but I am not certain which one. I'm not familiar enough with the show. I got to sit in it down at their shop. It was in there because the front axle was breaking in to. I believe the thing weighed about 16k. Hindsight being what it is, they should have used a heavier platform to handle the weight. I don't think the original design allowed for that much weight. It was pretty cool to sit in.

with all the armor and hydraulics that thing had I'm not surprised it was that heavy, if I remember correctly they had an issue with one of the rear axles too. The first TIV was built on an older F350 frame with a 7.3 powerstroke for power

I've seen cab and chassis rigs with an added tag axle, mostly hot shot trucks pulling a flat bed trailer. Even saw one with a sleeper with a tag axle. Looked like a mini 18-wheeler. I had thought about doing my dually this way (Quad Cab with 8 ft. bed) but didn't think a conversion to a live tandem axle could be done easily. I know it would help handle the load of my Fiver better. That will be one awesome rig. The tire store will love you.
