I did some calling around BD POWER & TST . The 4.5 dodge cummins has a 106 mph limiter. From what B&D said and from the instructions they sent me, the speed eliminator is installed in series in the vss wire (vehical speed sensing). So it will not defuel at 106 mph. but the ecm will only fuel to 3300 rpm.
The 2003 2004 model years will also fool the torque managment Via a toggle switch
(race mode) But the 4.5 Instructions say N/A
So Texas , Please keep us posted thanks

Mine does not behave that way...with or without my VA CP3.2. I just roasted the tires all the way across an intersection with my brother's 600 and it did not backoff at all...power braked and lauched at 2,000 rpms. Hmmmm. Who says this happens....and at what boost?

How is a sure way to tell if the truck is defueling at the line when building boost? I've launched at 20psi and best 60' is 1.81. I'm not really for sure if mine is defueling or not. Does the torque management system only apply to the 04.5 trucks? I've also had my truck to about 115 mph so I don't know if the speed limiter applies either?

BC what was your rpm at 115 ? Mark said he has seen the cummins defuel on the dyno at 106mph, he didnt go into the year. Also there is a need to come up with a way to fool the speed limiter, because some third gens are approching 106 in the quater.

I think the rpm was about 3300. My speedo was only reading 105 but since I have larger tires and wheels I know the speedo is off. At the track I'm running 99 or 100mph at the end but the speedo only reads 90. So at 100 on the speedo I'm just guessing I'm running 110.

I ask at what RPM because, when I asked TST about extending the RPM range a couple of week ago , Mark said the TST box manipulates the signal the the injector. After 3300 there is no signal to manipulate. Also the 4.5 auto starts to defuel at about 2900 rpm. I think thats part of the torque management but I dont know for sure.

Yes, but I'm goin to start racing with the stock tires and wheels, so I guess I'll need BD's product then. I'm just curious if everything is the same on the 03-04 models compared to the 04.5 when it comes to defueling and speed limiter?

I tried the key trick on my truck yesterday, and it worked. Turned the key back untill radio and speed odometer shut off. Let go of the key and radio came back on. Truck stayed running, speed odometer stayed off. So before i buy b&d's product i am going to see what happens with the odometer shut off. I dont see the speed limiter being a factor now. Has anyone else tried the key trick, and if so are you showing any top end rpm increase?

This little trick will work for a very short time when you start driving . The check engine light will come on and you will throw 3 codes . I think the motor is running off battery power only when you do this . The codes will clear themselves out and the engine light will go out after 6-7 cycles of the ignition ( or short trips ) in which the computer performs diagnostic checks , IF NO further problems they reset .

So your saying the alternater is not charging the batteries while driving it like this? Hate to have to jump it off after i turn it off. The only thing i noticed so far is that the cruise, ac, windows, and door locks did not work, but i only ran for about a mile or so. I can live with the check enging light on. It does that anyway every once and a while after i installed the tst box.
