Question 04.5 speed limiter

Just wondering has anyone heard or know how to overide the speed limiter? I assume its different from the 03 model. But i guess that would effect the rev limiter also. Any thought?

I was told my 04 had a limiter on it, but I ran her out to 108 mph and about 3300 rpm, which is where it redlined and hit the rev limiter.

Same here, Does it have a rev limiter and a speed limiter? Or is the rev limiter holding it back?

Me too. I run out of gear before power or electronics. Check out www.bd-power.com they have one that does the speed thing and also gets rid of the torque management system.

No, neither of these boxes have that function that I know of. Has BD released their product yet?

I talked to bd-power, and they do have them avalible. The cost is about 200 plus shipping. I asked what the rev limiter is in overdrive, and he said 3600. If so that should put it up to around 125 mark. They gave me a number for a local dealer here in tx, so if they have one in stock im going to order one today. If not im going to order one monday. Ill let you know how it works out.

There was a post a while back on this and alone it knocked like 2/10's off the guys 1/4 mile time but that was mainly due to the torque management system. truck was an 03 auto. I called BD and they said that the manuals are affected but not near as much due to not being able to make boost at idle. (ECM defuels when boost is sensed w/o seeing vehicle speed.) But I know my truck defuels when I launch because it takes off then falls flat on its face then comes back on. On the second gens the ECM would defuel with the blue chip boxes because it didnt fool the computer when it seen a rise of 800 rpm or greater it would defuel. I would think that the 3rd gens are the same???

What is this torque management system? This is the first I have heard of it. I thought the TST box and the EZ both have a built in boost fooler to prevent setting a overboost code. Is this not the same thing the BD box does?

The bd box im talking about is the top speed aliminater. It fools the ecm with an false mph reading, letting the rpm to reach the rev limiter of 3600.

Thats great news , Ill add the Eliminator to my list. With all the mods Im doing, to have it defuel at 2900 to 3100 is unacceptable. I see you have the TST, I wonder if the TST box will need to be reprogramed.to fuel to 3600 rpm. Before you try it maybe you should call Mark to find out. Please keep us posted. thanks

My bro just got a hemi 5.7L 1500, we did a side by side, my truck blew him away on the start, but after say 1/4 mil he flew past me, I still had it floored, I looked at my tach, and it almost looked like the rpms would'nt go into the red. Truck was still accelerating, but not quite as quickly as I had expected. Of course I don't want this to happen again. What can I do to not get my warrenty voided, but still blow him away?

does your brother know about the ''1/2 key trick''? just curious because my buddy has an '04 1500 hemi . he read online somewheer that if you have it running, you turn the key either a little more forwand or slightly rearward from run position and it takes away the speed limiter and shuts off speedo and odometer--im also wondering if the 3 g cummins does this too. it would make it faster maybe but more importantly , if it does this like the gassers-how many diesels will be running around in 5 years with 20 thous miles on them? ?

Possible it is true. I know on my 04.5 i can turn it toward the off possision shut my radio and everything off but the truck stays running, i chalked it up to a faulty switch or something haha. Good thing i havent had it fixed yet, Might have to try that when i get the truck back

Ill have to try this key trick also. So do you keep turning the key back untill the power goes off? Has anyone else tried this on the 04.5 600s?
