03 needs more power
Hey guys,
I bought an 03 dually to use in our welding company and after driving it I was not impressed with the power (or lack of it). It runs and drives great but compared to my bombed 98.5 and my 05 this thing is a slug... It has a 6sp and 4.10 gears. My plan is to do an exhaust and intake. Also I need to put in some kind of box. I'm leaning toward a Smarty. What do you guys think? Should I go with a different box? How long will the stock clutch live with a Smarty?
Thanks guys,
Topper

Get rid of the stock muffler for sure - it's choked down to 3" inside. I'm a believer in better turbos so I did that next - it helped the top end and driveability a lot. Then I did the Pred - it's the best bang for the buck and is also one of the best working power mods to boot. The 100hp is fine for the clutch and is awesome for towing - 1225 egt max. The 100 hp makes it real respectable running and the 160hp will blow your mind! I run the 100hp all the time because the 160hp would get me into too much trouble. I haven't had a ticket for 10 years and I want to keep it that way. If you want fast, easy and cheap just change the muffler and get the Pred - the turbo is icing on the cake. I'm sure you already know about the pyro. Craig

I would say if you like it, you can't go wrong with a Smarty. On an '03 get the old software on it before you load it. At this point it is working best on the 03-04 trucks, and you can't go back if you try newer. I added the smarty on the weekend and all I can say is wow!

Hey guys,
Sounds good Bob. When will they be available to the rest of us. Also I got a call today from a guy that has an TST - 37 for sale around $400. What do you guys think about the TST - 37? According to TST it's rated at 195 hp at the wheels and about 600ft torque. Sounds kinda high dosn't it?
