03 high idle

I realize this subject has been beat to death but I am looking for fast idle on my 03 CTD HO, manufactured late 2002. BD Power used to have a kit but it does not appear to be available anymore. Is anyone running the Diesel Service Group fast idle kit? What do you think of it?

The 03 trucks only idle up to 1000rpm when its cold, other then that cut a stick and prop it from the bottom of the dash to ur throttle if you would like high idle. Its what I do and works great.

The cheapest solution is to rig up a univeral choke cable (or a stick) to the throttle linkage.

At one time I found a site with a electronic throttle control module that ties into the APPS sensor. IIRC was around $400.

That is what the DSG kit does that dogger brought up. It is only around 250 and allows you to adjust what it idles at.

it may be diferent on the 03 but on my early 04 i cut the wire going to the t-stat and ran it thru a switch and when i flip the switch it breaks contact and triks the computer to thinking its cold and she idles rite up,then flick the swotch back and she idles down,it has to be the wire that has power to it,5 volts i think so test before u cut, mite work on urs and alot cheaper than 250 bucks, got a switch at wally world for 2 bucks haha

03 trucks lack the programming. some guys have installed a replacment facotry computer and had the dealership program it. the newer computer and programing has the high idle and the fog/highbeam ability.

there was a thread on this last year where someone finally pinned down the dates ect

I thought about doing it that way. But then if you are using the high idle in the summer time for the a/c the computer has no way of telling how hot your truck is in and when to kick the clutch fan in.
