My 03 SO had a cat and 3 1/2" downpipe I got a banks 4" turbo back exhaust for an 04 and it replaced the elbow and factory downpipe.

I don't know the exact number for the EGT reductions for the exhaust I have on now compared to my stock one but this is the best comparison I can give you.

From a 60 mph pull to 110 mph I could see 1100-1200* or so w/ the mods listed in my sig with the stock exhaust. Running the same mods in my sig but using the MBRP exhaust i'm at 950* or so.

There is virtually no drone in the cab at all. If you drive like you have a egg shell under your foot you will hardly know you have an exhaust, but if you stab the throttle it realy comes to life. The sound is by no means annoying. I bet you'll even get worse mileage because you will always have your foot in it listining to her sing.

And if your truck is equiped with a CAT or a muffler, you will be in awe by the weight of those two items.

WOW, so you're seriously saying a 04.5+ downpipe on your 03 gave you a 250' reduction in egt's

I'm running my stock 3.5" downpipe behind my Silverbullet turbo and dont have any egt issues but if it will lower my egt's 250' I just might have to do it. But if your wrong im gonna come looking for you.....

For orignal poster I dont think your problem is your exhaust, its your Smarty Beta 4.4 on a stock 03 turbo......

I have no doubt that the 4.4 is not helping but I figured if I could even lower my temp by 100* by replacing my restrictive exhaust, that would be a start until I can do the turbo. If I did the turbo first, I'll still have the stock 3.5inch exhaust which I'm sure would not help.

I should of been a little more clear. Just doing the exhaust didn't lower me 250*, it was in combination w/ the air intake and the boost fooler. Not to mention I only have a pressure box on, im not dumping in massive amounts of fuel as compared to his Smarty.

When I was stacking the Bully Dog Tripple Dog w/ the Dr.P box I could see 13-1400 easy, I even pegged my gauge on the dyno at 1500*.

But realy, like the guy above said your going to have to stuff alot more air(i.e. turbo) to get a huge drop in EGT's.

So maybe I should get the turbo first. Hopefully my stimulus check will get here soon!

Is the pipe considered the down pipe? Is that needed if going to an 04.5 style aftermarket exhaust?

Would I just need the elbow and clamp?
