03 Exhaust
I've been thinking of upgrading my exhaust. It is currently stock and with Beta 4.4, I can see 1400 WOT pretty quick.
I don't think that I'll see over 550hp anytime soon, so I'll probably get a 4" system. The stock system is 3.5" from the turbo to the muffler.
My question is, if I leave the 3.5" elbow on the turbo, will it still cool down my EGT's enough or should I really try to replace the elbow as well and get the true 4" through out?

I did not change mine at first..., ended up doing it later, but not only because of egt's. I needed my 62 to spool sooner, it definitely helped.
You may be able to find a 4" downpipe that attatches directly to the turbo, and do away with the cast elbow all together. I could not locate one when I did mine.
I do not believe you will see much of a drop in egt's by a 4" alone.

I have the 5" system, but I wouldn't do it again, just get a 4" magnaflow muffler or strait pipe it if you like LOUD. Put the money toward a turbo instead. I also don't see an air intake in your sig??? They help too.

Do you need all three pieces? Is the pipe the stock down pipe?
If your going to an after market exhaust then just order the 04.5 exhaust, correct? Need the pipe with the exhaust kit?

I modded my airbox by cutting the bottom out and mounting a PVC elbow. I would like to do an intake in the future when funds allow but my muffler has seen better days and I figured that would be a good place to start.

Did you have the 5" MBRP before you swapped out the elbow? If not, what exhaust did you have before?

I have found an elbow used as well. Where did you get the pipe and clamps from? I searched the part #'s online. Nothing came up for the clamps. The pipe said it came w/emission tracking. What does that mean? Will I also need a cat delete pipe and also an extension pipe?

My California emmisions SO had the muffler and CAT on it.
I went with a MBRP kit from Larry here. I ordered the aluminized kit, painted it black and put on a nice 5" tip. EGT's have went down, the sound is absolutley amazing and the price was hard to beat.
I realy don't think anyone sells a muffler delete in a 3.5" pipe, I could be wrong though. I also heard that banks sells a 4" downpipe?

I assume you still have the stock elbow? What kind of reduction in EGT's have you seen? How is the sound inside the cab at highway speed?
