Transfer case stuck in neutral

Transfer case stuck in neutral
Ok, so I took my 08 2500 MC 4x4 out to Pismo beach this weekend pulling my little 18' toyhauler. I air'd down to about 30 psi, put it in 4wd low and started up into the dunes. It started to dig in so I stopped to air down a little more and to air down the trailor as well, with the engine running. The wife hollars out that the truck was getting hot so she turned off the key. I finished airing down, got back in the truck, fired it up to find some how the transfer case had slipped into neutral (the little red light was lit). This left me with no forward or reverse gears at all. I followed the directions in the owners manual on how the engage the transfer case, but to no avail. I checked the fuses, I tried spinning the wheels to try and get the tranny and transfer case to mesh up, I unhooked my trailor and got a tow (in drive) to maybe get it to do something (i dunno what). I disconected the batteries to maybe get something to reset, hell I even did a voodoo dance and cursed at it. NOTHING. This is the electronic off road gear selctor switch by the way. Anyone have some insight to what the ---- went wrong ?

Not sure what would cause that, but Im wondering how it got into neutral in the first place. You have to depress the little neutral button to get it to turn past the stop thats built into the switch.
I have had the 4x4 **** on my 06 gasser break and was just turning and not engaging. If you would take the switch apart you would understand what I mean. There is a little plastic arm inside that moves the contacts and if it breaks the **** just turns and doesnt select anything.
Make sure that someone (No I'm not saying your wife did it, unless she was the only one in the truck then do the math ) didnt turn the 4x4 **** too hard against its normal travel range and damage it, preventing it from shifting out of neutral.

Well I just got a call from my local Dodge ***********. The transfer case gear selector motor gave up the ghost. Will be fixed and ready for pickup tomorrow afternoon all covered under waranty. Turns out the wife was innocent after all.
