Don't do it. Unless you want repeated trips to the dealership or you want your CEL on all the time. The truck acts funny sometimes, hiccups, and best mileage I have ever gotten was 17.0, which is better than average.
Buy a Chevy. They are easier to tweak, and you will spend less time in the shop. I never thought I would say that, but after repeated frustrations and having to mess with the dealership and rent a car crap. I am fed up. 16000 miles and zero problems, then 2 turbos later I am at 23000 miles.
Tech a dealership said he has 2 customers that are on their 12th turbo.
As a former loyal Dodge owner (5th truck) I will not buy another one. I should not be Chrysler's guinea pig. And then have to bail their sorry butts out. Tech said he puts an average of 10 turbos a week on. And they cost Chrysler $5000.00 each

"I have a 5.9 and love it." You said it. Why not wait a few years and wait till they have made vast improvements with the new emissions stuff. I would rather have your truck than a new 6.7 at this stage.

At $5k a crack, DC would have lemoned the truck themselves, as 12 turbos would have exceeded the MSRP / sales price of the truck to begin with.

to gsbrockman;
i have to agree with you. i had a 2006 3500 that i took in to the dealer 9 times because it would just stop running. they change the ecm and all the wiring under the hood and the same problem returned again after 20 miles. the dealership themselves gave me a new 2008 without any questions ask. i like dodge corp.

I have 2 and i can say that i have had a few check engine lights and one new turbo....i suggest a new tech....my turbo was at 6000 miles and i haven't had a problem since....a flash or two here and there when i get it serviced...i lined up with my buddy's 06 5.9 with an intake, exhaust and chip...i just have an intake and DPF back exhaust and i blew his doors off from a stop right through about 90mph....and the new transmission with the exhaust break is impressive....you will not be sorry.....

25K on my truck and it's been in the shop 7 times. All of this because of the emissions crap. I'm thinking of selling it and getting an older truck. When my warranty is up this thing is going to cost plenty, so if I keep it I'll have to get an extended warranty and they aren't cheap.

5.9 is proven, cheaper to mod. Better fuel mileage, No smog control!
Something to keep in mind... higher Revs=more wheel speed= faster truck on top end.
6.7 will have a tough time getting to 4k rpm. 6.7 is a great grunter and better bottom end tower but, I'll take a small block for fun.
BTW I'll line my 5.9 with just a chip and an intake against any 6.7 with the same and we'll see who's faster..... I'll let you guess my chip though.

With the 6.7, it comes with all the new emissions and all the problems with that. The turbo in the 6.7 clogs. I've had an 01 and 04 Diesel, I traded the 04 in on the 07.5 - 6.7 and I have regretted it. I've been to the shop over 10 times, the check engine light is always on, they have put in a new turbo, still had the same problems, most recently they did the "new fix" of what they call a turbo update which is drilling a hole in the turbo and cleaning it and now I have the check engine light on again. I really wouldn't recommend the new 6.7. I think Dodge doesn't know how to fix them so I just keep going back for more flashes and sensor replacements and turbo fixes - constant problems. Don't do it. MSRP $54,000 18months ago trade in value today is $23,000.
