I have been looking for a replacement truck. I was looking at used 07 and 08 but after reading about the buy back trucks being out there for sale, I may go back to looking at 06's.
I stopped in to do some checking on the 6.7 trucks and don't like the way this sounds at all. I can't afford to buy a new truck right now and figured a good used truck will be just fine. I see I need to do a lot of reading to see if the 6.7 will be worth the extra money.

I am lucky enough to drive my uncle's 2008 quite often. He always preaches two things to me about his truck: DON'T let it sit at idle for more than 5 minutes when the engine is cool and let the turbo cool down for a while after running it hard. I really love the 6 speed auto transmission in the truck because it always seems to keep the engine at just the right rpm. He hasn't had any problems so far with his truck and it does a lot of heavy towing.

Mine just flipped 32K today. is one year old to the day and has not been to the dealer since the I bought it. I have and Edge Attitude and AFE drop in filter. Stock it was faster than my brother and brother in laws 07 5.9 with attitude, intake, exhaust and 6 speeds. both of there trucks were stock till the clutches started slipping at less than 25K. I replaced them with SB Con FE's and put on the other goodys. Both trucks had to have all 6 injectors replaced at just over 45K, and one had them replaced again at around 78K Both were very well main serviced. My brother bought a 08 with an auto after he drove my stock truck with a back hoe after we just crossed the scales at 28,953 and held 65 up a hill in 5th gear (auto trans 1st over drive)that dropped him to 60 with the same load even with his edge in 6th ( over drive in the manual that is same ratio as the auto 1st over drive). as far as having to work it hard, I build a lot of fence and leave it running while I weld up H braces and caps on line post. weld for 3 min pull up 100 ft weld for 3 min and do that 3-5 hours at a time with it idling the hole time and have never had a prob with turbo or DPF. Guess mine must be a oddball.
