Angry Stinking 6.7 emissions junk!!!!!

So I leave the house this morning and immediately notice that the truck is stumbling off the line. It never did that before but it ran fine otherwise. 5 miles down the road I notice that power is way down and it appears that if I give it a bunch of pedal the E-Brake is kicking on and slowing me down. Not a good thing on a narrow windy road with nowhere to pull off. If I just keep my foot in it then it eventually lets go and the truck will move out. I come to a traffic light that is red and as I am sitting there I get a "Ding" and look up at the overhead that is telling me "Catalyst 80% full". 5 seconds later it says "Catalyst 70% full" and then it goes away. I press the buttons and it tells me "System OK" Well it's not OK because the EB is still choking the engine down anytime I give it too much pedal. I come to another light and put my foot on the brake and the other on the accelerator. When I did this there was a loud whooshing sound under the hood like there was a blowoff valve opening. It would not do this again after that one time.
So has this happened to anybody else like this and if I just take it out on the highway and get a good regen going will it help? My CEL was already on before this happened so I have been driving around in manual 4th gear since yesterday so my RPMs were up around 2200 for most of my 30 mile trip yesterday and this morning. I had not noticed a REGEN recently but it was definitely REGENing as I got to work. I didn't want to leave it sit there and idle to REGEN and I could not take it out on the highway to help it REGEN just yet due to traffic. I plan on trying it in a couple hours though...

Well, I just went for a quick spin after having shut the truck down when I got to work. It seems to be running right again but I can hear the pitch of the engine is changed so I'm pretty sure it's still REGENing right now. As soon as traffic lightens up I'm gonna take it for a nice drive on the highway in manual 4th or 5th gear to clean things up and then I'm definitely pulling this junk off the truck as soon as I can get a delete kit. I may order one today.....

From: Boerne Texas,
zilla, I will ask my buddy about his stuff for his truck today, sorry i didnt get that earlier this week, and I will ask him if his has done what yours is doing. Right now my silver bullet is back in the shop, it threw 3 codes: injector 4 open, injector bank B open, and low boost. Been at dealer for 3 days and i havent heard back from them, i hope it will be taken care of under warranty.

Thanks man. You don't have to call your friend. I really don't want to add any extra power right now. I just want to make the truck run right and be dependable. If it smokes a bit with the deletes then so be it but I'm gonna hold off on the DL...

Well, I took it out for a drive and it was still REGENing but it was running fine. I got on the highway for about 45 minutes at 22-2500rpms with some points where I got it up to 3000rpm just to make sure I burned up as much crap as I could in the system. It finished the REGEN before I got back and it runs like it should. Now to get the deletes on order... WooHoo....

Now I have to figure a way to tell the wifey so that she doesn't give me that look.....

Once I get this stuff on the truck then there will be no downside to this truck. That's why I got an 08...

And BTW, the Wifey didn't have a problem with this. I really have her trained well after 10 years...... I think the promise of better fuel mileage saved me from her wrath...

yup, drove mine around for 30 minutes last night to clear it out for no reason. its the cleanest fuel wasting diesel engine ever produced

i know ive put 500 out of the 82'000 miles on mine just driving it to the dealer or driving around to clear the dpf

Sounds like the soot in your turbo (which has been what was tripping your p2262 codes) was causing the sliding vane on the VGT to get stuck. Sounds like you kicked a little bit of it out driving it at high RPMs but that turbo is still filthy. My advise is to take the truck to the dealership for a turbo cleaning and/or replacement once your DPF delete arrives but before you install it. That way, fresh from a turbo cleaning, you can yank all that crap off and then you know you have a nice clean turbo.

Yeah, I have been toying with that idea while the codes are still present. It really is the smart thing to do. Either that or find a turbo someone took off theirs and clean it up really well and keep it on the shelf.
It felt to me like the computer was making the turbo act that way while it unclogged the CAT/DPF. The strange thing was that I had just gotten another CEL the day before so I had about 40 miles on it of driving in manual 4th or 5th gear which really should have knocked a bunch of that crap out of the turbo....
Oh well, something more to consider before installing the kit.....

The increased RPMs doesn't really increase your EGTs as much as you would think it does. I've watched my pyro and at 2800-3000rpm my EGT's are the same or lower (at cruising speed) than at 1600-1800rpm. So the turbo, unless you are loading the engine quite a bit, isn't really getting hot enough to burn the carbon deposits off. What it sounded like you were experiencing was the sliding vane getting stuck. Whatever was obstructing it obviously cleared out of the path, probably by your use of the e-brake (which is why the dealer says to use the e-brake 100% of the time). The problem is, using the e-brake 100% doesn't solve the problem; the rest of the turbo is still getting dirtier and dirtier and eventually there will be too much clogged up for the e-brake function to keep the sliding vane clear of obstruction. That's why I highly suggest having the dealer clean or replace your turbo right before installing your deletes. That way you don't have to worry about trying to clean the turbo out yourself. After the deletes your turbo won't be getting any dirtier, but it would take some hard driving to completely clean it out. Since you still have your warranty at that point, why not have the dealer do it then you have no worries?

Curious about this turbo cleaning. Is this a regular maintenance thing or just a 1 time thing and then the flashes keep everything in order??
I have 166k miles on mine and have never had the turbo cleaned. Just completed the 2nd EGR maintenance deal, cleaning the EGR valve & cooler. The 2nd time around they didn't really look as bad as the 1st time. Just wondering if all the update flashes it's got are making any difference. I still don't like the idea of all that soot going back into the intake but I'm really hesitant about taking off all the federally mandated air pollution crap.
It took about 150k miles for it to start getting 18 m.p.g. I know this truck could easily get 20 m.p.g. without the EGR & DPF but I don't want to create more problems for an extra 2 m.p.g.
