S.O.S Glow Plug light not kicking on.

First big trip with the 09. (22K) Coldest days in History. Started fine this AM. Good to Denver. Then noticed that glow plug light is not coming on. No codes on over head, nothing flashing just no quirly Q on dash. I can not hear it click on ether, Started fine at -18 this Am and off and on all day at -6or so. Seems to be ok now but in the AM it will be -20. Is it going to start? Anything I could check myself? Sucks being away from home and stuff happens. Thought and ideas on where to start.

Not sure what could be the problem. What I can tell you is your truck doesn't have glow plugs, it has a grid heater! Have you checked your fuses?

If the engine is warm at all still more the likely the grid heater(wait to start) light will not come on, that maybe part of it, just because its cold the engine may not have been cold yet.

Down to about -20C if my truck is plugged in, the wait to start light does not come on. My 04 always had the light come on even at or above freezing.

Thanks all Panic over

04 always came on. Did not know that the 09 did not come on all the time. OK, yes grid heater not glow plugs. Started fine this AM not pluged in, no place to plug it in at hotel.

Thanks all for your info. I was a little worried.

Fuel milage really sucks. Seats still suck!!

My memory foam seat mod is nasty when its as cold as it has been up here lately. Its rock hard. It does soften up after I expel some heat into the seat though. Pffft
