Oil change at 12000 km ?

I always changed my oil on my 97 12 valve at 6000 km but my 08 recommends 12000 intervals. I had it done at 8000km for the 1st time and my indicator never came on. I drive 300km /day so maybe its alright, has anyone done oil samples at these high mile oil changes ?

IIRC the oil change interval for the 6.7 is 7500 miles. But for the the first oil change I did mine at 1150 miles. I have only sent in oil samples with my full synthetic oil so I can't tell you that your dino oil will hold up as well. As long as you use a good quality oil and oil filter the oil should hold up for the miles listed in the owners manual.

JMHO.

I have the dealer do my oil & oil filter every 10k miles using their MOPAR Dino oil. I change the fuel & air filter at the same interval. 130k miles on the clock and so far all is good. Overhead calls for the oil to be changed every 7,500k miles no matter how it's being driven - mostly highway half the time towing. Doesn't use any oil between changes. The oil is sure black when it comes out but it's also black within 15 minutes of running on a new oil change too!!
Do what's comfortable for you & your wallet.

12Kilo oil change fine with newer engines. Push my 00 for 20 thousand with syn oil and a EOA report showed still very good. Believe there are OEA posts on extended oil changes.
