Can I Drive 385 Miles With P0402 Code???

I am on the road and currently visiting family in Jacksonville, IL. I will head back to Fort Knox, KY tomorrow morning. The drive is about 385 miles. I just got a engine light and P0402 - EGR Flow Excessive Detected.

No dealers open on a Saturday afternoon...will I brake anything driving it back to the Fort Knox area with the soot blocking the butterfly? It seems that is what is causing the code since the butterfly is staying open. It is on the single digits outside...I don't feel like getting stranded on I-64.

Thanks!

Sorry nobody answered this yesterday, I didn't see it. But to answer your question, you can continue to drive it, the CEL will most likely clear after a couple of key cycles. Have a safe trip home!

Hey thanks! You are correct...codes P1451 & P0402 both cleared some place along I64 in Indiana. It is just so frustrating wondering if your rig is going to die on you. Thanks again!

What I'd do is unplug the EGR and you'll get another couple of mpg and better engine response. It will throw a soft code, but other than that, there are no side effects.
