looking to purchase a Dodge
Wanted to find out info on the new 6.7 VS the 3-rd gen,s with 5.9
I am looking at purchasing another Dodge but not sure how the new 6.7 stack up against the 3-rd Gen's 04.5---up to 07.
Do they have aftermarket Turbocharger for the 6.7 yet, is it easier to make it fast and pump out HP VS the 3-rd gen 5.9.
How does the Stock Transmission hold up to added HP, what is the best programmer / tuner set-up for the 6.7 and the best HP numbers they are putting out with Mods?
I here there weakness is there Fuel milage.
Anyhow any info would be appreciated.

I don't think there are aftermarket turbos out yet but I read that some of the turbo mfrs are looking into making the stock ones better.
Stock power is great and so is the 6 speed auto trans. Mileage stinks but it's not a whole lot worse than the 07 5.9 I traded in on it. The exhaust brake is super cool and works awesome when hauling a trailer. I love mine so far.....
There are some programmers out there giving great power and better mileage. There are also some items out that we don't talk about here. Let's just say that some 6.7s DO blow black smoke. I'm no expert on the 6.7 perf mods as I am not BOMBing mine. I'm sure someone else will chime in on those...

As long as this is a truck that will never see a public road..... you can do all kinds of things to the 6.7, including turbo, injectors, stacked tuning, ect ect.
Check the May 2008 issue of Diesel Power Magazine, they do some race mods to a 6.7l that you may be interested in.

I really like my 08 6.7 and yes it would be nice to get a few more mpg but thats life. The thing stock runs very well and I heard that the MP-8 helps the mileage a little.
