Light Load? and weird horseshoe light?

Test drove a couple 6.7s for fun today. The auto had a weird horseshoe shaped light with a ! in it. Whats this light for? And what is the light load button? salesman was clueless.

The horseshoe light is the new tire pressure sensor monitoring system. Thank Dodge. It tells you when the tire pressure is to low. You have either two mode to run in 55 in the front and 45 in the back when you engage the light load switch, or 65 front and rear. I might supect that the dealer let the air pressure down to give the truck a better ride. Just a guess.

Oh sorry almost forgot, in order to engage the light load switch, you need to do turn on the key and then lower the tire pressure in order for this work right. Or you will get the horseshoe light for no good reason.

Horse shoe light is tire pressure monitor. Light load button ,

The TPMS “Light Load” reset switch will allow the driver
to switch between the max load inflation pressure (cold)
low pressure warning threshold and the light load inflation
pressure (cold) low pressure warning threshold
depending on the vehicle’s load condition. The Tire and
Loading Information label defines the recommended
front and rear cold tire inflation pressures for the vehicle
when operating in the Max Load condition. A Supplemental
Tire Pressure Information label is also available
defining Light Load tire inflation pressures when operating
in the Light Load condition. When the “Light Load”
reset switch LED is ON, the TPMS is using the light load
inflation pressure (cold) low inflation warning thresholds.

24. Tire Pressure Monitoring Telltale Light — If
Equipped
Each tire, including the spare (if provided),
should be checked monthly when cold and
inflated to the inflation pressure recommended
by the vehicle manufacturer on the vehicle
placard or tire inflation pressure label. (If your vehicle
has tires of a different size than the size indicated on the
vehicle placard or tire inflation pressure label, you should
determine the proper tire inflation pressure for those
tires.)

The spare does not come with a sensor...

It could be the colder weather causing that light to come on. I had to air up all the tires in my wife's T&C by 5 lb because the light came on. That made it go away...

You shouldn't thank(blame) Dodge for TPMS. It is a federal law now. Only the 3500's are exempt. All 2500's and below are required to have TPMS. Thank Firestone and their tire fiasco and explanation as to why all their tires were falling apart (owners running them underinflated) for the federal mandate if you are going to be pointing fingers.

Light load button ON: front-65psi, rear-45psi
Light load button OFF: front-65psi, rear-65psi

Ford carries the brunt of the blame.........FoMoCo chose to run 26 psi in their crappy Exploders. How many issues were present with Jeep Cherokees, Chevrolet S-Blazers, GMC Jimmys, Toyota 4-Runners, Nissan Pathfinders, etc ? None to mention.

Let's see......if I owned a "normal" vehicle that required 35 psi inflation pressure, and I fail to check my pressure for two months, it may drop to 30 psi or so. No big deal.

Now......I own a Ford Exploder that starts out with 26 psi. I don't check my tire pressure for a couple of months. I now have around 21 psi. Houston, we have a problem.........
