installing an exhaust brake on a stock 48re
I did a thread search but couldn't find anbody installing an exhaust brake on a truck with a stock 48re transmission. What I'd like to know is were any modifications made to the transmission, what final cost was and how is it working out? In most cases my truck handles our 8k toy hauler well going down 6% grades but we've had to negotiate a few 10-12% grades that really put the brakes to a test but all went OK. Still I wonder if the EB would damage the stock transmission and is the cost worth it?

I don't know if you did a search on these or not. Hope this helps out. I did a search for Jacobs and for Packbrake.

Thanks RamGazer. The first two attachments didn't produce anything but the one for Pacbrake did cover the installation. It would have been nice if he had said what year of truck and transmission type he had, or maybe I missed it, and been a little more detailed on what he did with the torque convertor and what other trans mods he did, which was what I was really looking for, but thanks for trying, Gerry
