Impressions of my 6.7 loaner truck.....

How in the world is LSD still available in Florida. Stopped and talked to a tanker yanker in December about the ULSD. He said they only have ULSD and they started the first of December 06' hauling it everywhere. He was delivering out of Florida. I asked. I am in the Savannah, Ga. area. LSD is nowhere to be found in my area. I have looked.

You are 100% correct, except LSD can not be sold in the state of CA. The law states that all diesel fuel sold in CA must be ULSD. IIRC the state of CA had to be on 100% ULSD no later then June 1, 2006 and some reported that it started to show up in November of 2005.

Well. I still have the loaner. I so love the exhaust brake! Will really miss that feature when I turn it back in. I am kind of impressed with the off idle acceleration of the 6.7. It has good power delivery, smooth and quiet. If this thing had my 5.9's exhaust system it would fly!

You'll notice Flying J still reports many of its stations still selling LSD:

LSD is sold right here in my town of Chesapeake, VA in about 25% of the stations and in every truck stop I checked two weeks ago on the way to GA. The Flying J where I normally got fuel in my F250 didn't have ULSD and the two truck stops here in my area still sell LSD. I also called the Ohio and PA turnpikes because I'm getting ready for a trip to Michigan and most of the stations on the TPK still sell LSD, so it's still very available.

The new emissions trucks (6.7l CTD, 6.4l PSD, 6.6 LMM DMAX) all have a DPF (Diesel particulate Filter) in the exhaust system to trap 95%+ of soot particles. This is why the trucks dont smoke. When the DPF fills, the truck goes into regen mode and heats the dpf to somewhere around like 700 degrees and burns the particles out as an "Emissions-friendly" gas. The process on my ford took 18 minutes start to finish doing a regen at idle. The fords will regen at idle, so when i put my truck in park during a regen, my RPMs go up to 1200. When in drive the RPMs are at about 750 compared to the 675-700 they are when not in regen. CTD/DMAX trucks will only regen at 30mph or above and need to have that speed constant for a period of something close to 40 minutes.

You could have just quoted one post, that would have gotten the point across just fine.
Something is amiss, I read several times that the entire country was supposed to switch to ULSD by sometime earlier this year. Not just for the engines designed to run on it, but because of the 15ppm vs 500......
