Impressions of my 6.7 loaner truck.....

Dropped off my 07 5.9 for some minor warranty repairs and they provided me with an exact version of my truck except with the new 6.7 and 6sp auto. First off the likes:
-exhaust brake is wonderful
-engine is very quiet
-power is very respectible
Now the dislikes:
-at 900 miles on the odo, the CEL light is on. Overhead says catalyst is 100% full. Keeps going in and out of regen too. Engine idles funny in regen mode. I could never put up with these emissions.
-not sure I like the way the trans shifts. It seems to stumble in the higher gears and when it hits top gear it causes the engine to stumble. Much prefer my 4sp auto in my 5.9
-is there an engine under all these sensors ?

As a loner vehicle, it probably had lsd put into it vs ulsd which will explain the filter problems.

I doubt it could have lsd in it, lsd hasn't been available for over 8 months.

Ahhh man, take a look under the hood of the new 08 Ford with a 6.4!! It'll blow your mind how much crap is crammed into that engine bay!

LSD is sold right here in my town of Chesapeake, VA in about 25% of the stations and in every truck stop I checked two weeks ago on the way to GA. The Flying J where I normally got fuel in my F250 didn't have ULSD and the two truck stops here in my area still sell LSD. I also called the Ohio and PA turnpikes because I'm getting ready for a trip to Michigan and most of the stations on the TPK still sell LSD, so it's still very available.

I joind the Business Link program and it guarantees you a replacement vehicle if your truck goes in for repair. Pretty good plan. It even gets you an additional $300 off the truck price just for joining and the membership is free .

I did look at the new Ford. What a mess! I bet labor times on that motor are outrageous. I am used to the 5.9 where everything is accessible, makes the 6.7 look crowded.

I do think a lot of the regen problems are caused by LSD instead of ULSD. In California it hasn't been available for some time. Our truck is a 2007.5 second wave of 6.7's. All updates done and NO PROBLEMS OF ANY KIND. If you are looking for crisper shifting run it in the "tow and haul" mode and it shifts with athority. The truck hauls *** too! I had the "Oil change required" message come on 2 days after I changed the oil. (Key on, not started, pedal to the floor 3 times to reset.) Other than that we love our truck. We also have a '98 5.9 5 spd manual to compare it to and we're very pleased overall.

Stations that are still selling LSD are breaking the law.

LSD is still everywhere here in Florida. It is probably a 50/50 split on LSD to ULSD. This truck is the business link managers personal demo and you would think he would put the right fuel in it ?????

I believe you are correct about HIM. But is he the only one to drive it so far? If it has been a loaner I think it may have been in the hands of someone who just put the cheapest fuel they could find. OR it may not have had the latest flashes. My wife drives the auto the most with a lot of around-town, no regens to date. (about 6k miles)

How in the world is LSD still available in Florida. Stopped and talked to a tanker yanker in December about the ULSD. He said they only have ULSD and they started the first of December 06' hauling it everywhere. He was delivering out of Florida. I asked. I am in the Savannah, Ga. area. LSD is nowhere to be found in my area. I have looked.

It shouldn't be available anywhere. Especially 8 months after the entire country was supposed to be changed over to the ULSD!

LSD can be here till 2010 but only 10% of the fuel made can be LSD the other 90% has to be ULSD.

If you don't believe it just google search it.
