Difference in 6.7 & 5.9 maintenance.

Looking at a 6.7 MegaCab. Have had the 5.9's. I need the xtra room in the back for the family. I have been reading posts in the search area & see where some of the guys say there is alot more to maintaining the 6.7. What are the differences ? I change my own oil & filters. Is there more to taking care of the 6.7 than the 5.9.
THANKS Everyone for all the info out here.

I haven't found anything different than the 5.9. Maybe shorter oil change intervals because of the egr. The oil gets pretty black pretty quick. You just need to use the CJ-4 oil. It has the low ash content so it doesn't cause problems with the egr and the exhaust system. You also need to run only ultra low sulfur fuel. I have 5300 miles on mine and have not had any problems yet. Just a few computer updates and a recall on the o2 sensor. Fuel mileage is decent, which seems to be a big concern for some. I get 14 or so around town and 18 or so mixed driving. I took it to CO for the holiday and got 19.1 on the way out and 21.9 on the way home. I'd say thats not too bad.

I've never had the 5.9 but I have read that both of the 6.7s filters are tougher to get to. But that doesn't matter to me, just part of the deal. The fuel filter can't be much worse than my previous Powerstroke was.

Oil and Fuel are easy acess. You can remove both within a matter of minutes withour removing anything.

Well, I lied, to remove the oil I have to remove my AFE intake tube from turbo, but thats only 1 clamp to loosen. Still takes less then 5 minutes to remove both and add new 1's.
