Hey guys, well im new to the 3rd gen thing, im 17 and have a 93 12 valve, its got a 6" lift, 35s, injectors, fuel pin, pump mods, water meth and a few other goodies. I also swapped in a new motor this summer, so i know what im doing with the 1st gen 12 valves, but the 3rd gen trucks are totally new to me. so, heres the story. I dont live with my dad, but one day i took a ride past his house, and i see a silver quad cab short bed truck sitting in the driveway. i get closer, and first thing i notice is the heavy duty badge, then I see the big "C" on the fender. i was pumped. before my parents got divorced i always told him to get one, and when i drove by and saw this i was pumped. when i still lived with him i told him to get the 07 5.9 because the 6.7s were new and untested. I was surprised that he actually listened to me, when i called him i found out that it was an 07 with the 5.9, its an auto. it has 4.10s in it. what tranny do these have? is it a 5 or 6 speed? also, what are the problems with these trucks, and what should be done on it for preventative maitenence. he would like to get a lot of miles out of this truck.

Hey congrats to dad on his new truck. He has the 48re auto trans which is a 4 speed. If he plans on putting power through it, than the fuel system, tranny, and tires (from burnouts) will need to be upgraded. Other than that, good luck with it!
