A/C Compressor Exploding ?????

A/C Compressor Exploding ?????
Has anyone had problems with the A/C Compressor sounding as if it is going to EXPLODE?
After the truck has sat overnight, it will start fine and idle perfect. However, with engine running if you push the button to cut on the A/C, it sounds as if the compressor was locked up and when it engages it breaks it loose violently. After the very loud crack the sound goes away immediately, cold air blows and the compressor cycles as normal. If you shut down the truck after driving it does not happen again. It only happens after the truck has sat for overnight or longer.
It makes no rattling sounds when in operation and sounds perfect when it cycles.
I almost think it's not the compressor, but maybe the Clutch?
Any thoughts?

Yep, if there's not enough oil in the system it can cause the compressor to lock up and then blow. Similiar to running your motor w/no oil. I'd have it checked ASAP. Although different vehicle, I had a Honda compressor blow the bottom half out one time.

Has anyone had to change out the compressor? It looks easy enough to access.

On my 2004 Ford the engine computer had a program called CASS, for computer anti-slugging system, that cycled the AC on for about 10 seconds every cold engine start (regardless of AC switch position).
I've never heard my Dodge make any loud noises when turning on the AC or listening at the first AC cycle after a start-up. In fact it's pretty hard to hear the clutch click over the sound of the motor.

Yeah your right not allot of talk about failing compressors. Before posting, I searched and searched and all I could find was.... "Poor cooling YES. Low on Freon YES. Broken vent doors YES" just as you explained.
That’s a good sign ..... I guess?
Has anybody replaced a compressor?

I guess I spend too much time in front of this computer.Only a few compresser failures on several forums over several years that I've ever heard of/read about. The ac on these trucks is the pits for cooling but so far its not do to torn up compressers.
