I would get another diesel. I don't think you will like the gasser once you get to drive it. I had a 1500 gasser and I ain't going back. Since you have had so many issues they really want that truck back to find out exactly what is wrong with it. I haven't heard of anybody having this much trouble everrrrrrr.... You just got 2 lemons and a dealer who is struggling it sounds like.

Sounds from your previous posts that you don't necessarily NEED the towing capability of a 2500 CTD pickup. That being said, if they are willing to offer you an '09, I would take one of the new 1500 CTD trucks. Lighter suspension, smaller motor but still a diesel truck and one that will likely yield you mileage in the high 20's and last forever. If you are only offered an '08, I would stay with the CTD. The first time you tow ANYTHING with that hemi you are going to miss the CTD. I think your circumstances are isolated and will not be transferred to a new CTD-powered truck so you will be happy with another CTD I think. Just please, for the love of all that is good in the world, FIND A NEW DEALERSHIP!!!

one last thing......
I'm not sure if the truck will be an 08 or 09.
Well good to see there helping you and I mean Chrysler (not your dealer). The new Chrysler looks like they are trying to get back to how great they were back in 1998 (sorry a little off topic).

Well being your on a diesel forum I think I know what the answer is. I myself would go with the diesel again but it's up to you

you paid a lot more money for that diesel in the first place...you would come out on the short end with a gaser....stick with the diesel.

If the truck is repaired you may want to work out a settlement including lost whatever and keep the truck instead of letting the next buyer of it get the benefits of your hard work and frustration.

Unfortunately the 1500 CTD won't be available until 2010.

I would get another diesel, but find another dealer!

bad news....i've been on vacation for a week and the truck has
been parked in my garage.

Chrysler called me while i was on vacation and asked me a few
questions regarding my truck. they said they would call me when
i got back home.

they called today and offered me a new identical truck! i am quite pleased
with the offer and how they have stepped up to correct a miserable situation.
they haven't finalized anything on the quad cab yet but they said they would
call me by the end of the week to finalize everything.

so here's the big question.......Diesel or Gas?!?!?!

You should consider what kind of deal you could get if you turned around and traded in the brand new, practically zero mile truck. This might be a better opportunity for you to get something else.

Get another diesel and IMMEDIATELY find another mechanic! Once I got satisfaction I would not step back into that place for any work ever.

Try using then Lucas. It may help lube the fuel pump and clean the injectors. I get better mileage and it runs quieter with Lucus. I odor it by the case form Lucas.com and save a lot of money. I am concerned about the low sulfur fuel.

another update.

the quad cab puffed a cloud of black smoke today and decided not to move
forward! I'm guessing the turbo went kaput. all the truck would do is idle while it smoked. it would move forward but not in a very convincing manor. so it made its 5th trip via
of a rollback to the dealership. can this get any worse!

i called Chrysler and they put me in touch with the company that does their
buybacks. gave them the information and now I'm waiting on their decision.

this experience defies imagination

captain kirk......please beam me up now

I agree with others. Get the diesel and see a differ dealer. I have had zero check engine lights and just got my AP flash done last Friday. Truck still runs like a champ.

Thats unreal, youd think they just replace the whole engine w/all accessories and the ecm, before a buy back, but better for you.

Not wanting to jinx myself but in over 9000 miles not one CEL for engine malfunction!!!! I don't idle for long and when I do run it goes for 30 minutes minimum. I tow occasionally, heavy, 22000 lbs last week! My only complaint is the fuel mileage when empty, high 14's. It is either lemmons or your fuel has some space alien in it that is undetectable.

What ever way you go find a new Dealership to do business with even if you trade for a HEMI.
