I use an old magnet base CB antenna with the cable cut off for lining up. From outside the bed, I can swing it over to right infront of the ball and then it tips upright. Back up from the driver seat watchin in the rearview until the antenna just starts to tip from hitting on the goose. Lined up perfect every time. Still have to climb in to hook up safety chains and close the latch so then I grab the magnet antenna and store it up under the trailer back by the jack.

i prefer to do it john wayne style and back up blindly, see where i need to make an adjustment and do it over and over again until i eventually get it to where it needs to be or i hit the bumper...if i do that then i just have to roll foward 5 inches and im good
