I say keep the truck and by an economical vehicle so on weekends you still have a nice truck to drive and not a gas car. I say keep the truck.

Lets see today I just read that Cuba has found oil and asked China to help them drill for it, that people have cut back 3% on the amount of fuel they use and the small-mid size refineries (not counting the big boys like Exxon) are now only running at 81.1% capacity down from 95% this time last year because they are losing money due to the higher cost of crude oil. Also they are only making about $12.52 profit per barrel of oil compared to twice that amount this time last year.

NO I WILL NOT SWITCH back, my old truck got 1/2 the mileage of my 03, so the fuel savings makes the truck payment. when diesel gets to be twice the price of gas, i will then be unhappy.

They are forcing me to drive this now. The wife is making me drive this to get " GROCERIES " and take the kids to " PIANO and HORSEBACK RIDING LESSONS " cause it gets the best mileage, ( 25 mpg @ 100 mph). What can I do?

I like my diesel. For one it's paid for, it gets good mileage for the size and power. I don't worry about plus, wires, ignition system and all that goes with a gasser. I'll keep the Ram till the wheels fall off, it's been the most reliable truck I've had.

I just put a deposit on an ordered 2500.

Diesel will be down a year from now. Less than $3.00.

My prediction from hanging out in the middle eastern oil fields.

I keep very detailed records of the mileage of my truck, my old S-10 and my parents Silverado Z71 5.3 V8 automatic plus lots of other stuff in an Excel spreadsheet.

I'm driving the Silverado a lot now because I was in a head on collision in the S-10 that broke my left femur and kneecap so I can't drive my truck too often yet.

Anyway my Cummins is averaging about 21.86 cents per mile, the lighter Silverado with less power, less mileage and less fun is coming in at 21.84 cents per mile! All with current prices and my current mileage.

If my beloved S-10 was alive and well today using the last recorded mileage I had and current prices would be running 14.1 cents per mile.

So no, I haven't considered changing to gas, at least not in a full size truck. I have often thought of a 4BT in a 1500 Chevy 2WD!

I'd be willing to bet you are wrong, but I hope & pray you are right. fuel prices are going to drive this country straight into a depression

I didn't go back to a gasser but I did go to a better milage vehicle, I just don't have time to work a truck right now, & at 13 mpg just not realistic as a daily driver

I have a VW turbodiesel commuter and everdyday driver. Get 35 in town and 43.9mpg going 80mph with A/C and AUTOMATIC. I'll keep my truck even if it does go to 7 or 8 bucks a gallon and just use it to play around with and haul stuff when I need to. Get you a gas miser, it will allow you to drive your truck several more years, and option to park it if you don't feel good about diesel prices, but still have it when you need it. DON'T get a junker for commuting, if in your budget get a really good car you don't mind driving and with 50K or less miles. Works great for me. Good Luck

GEEZ, I just filled up yesterday. $4.99 / gal. Now my wallet is $150 lighter. I mentioned early I thinking of a motorcycle. But instead, I just got myself an '88 Suzuki Samurai this week. It's really for weekend offroad use, but with the continualy raising fuel prices, I might be driving it a few times a week.
