Air intake heater fusible link

Hello everyone,
Does anybody know what amperage rating the fusible link between the battery and the Air intake heater relay is? One of our work trucks has one that fried, and we'd like to get a new one... The truck is an '08 3500 Resistol...
Thanks.

I once put a ammeter on the lead going to the grid heater and measured a peak draw of 247A. So this is some indication of what you need.

Fuselink is tricky stuff to figure out - gauge, time delay, etc.
The stock fuselink wire is 8ga I believe, so just look for that, and use a similar length as stock.

I am thinking of going to a large, slower blowing fuse on mine. They are made by Cooper-Bussman, and others, and called an "AMG" type. You could safely install a 300A or even try and get away with a 250A, and that way it is easy to carry spares and change them out.

I would first figure out why the fuselink wire burnt out.

Scott.

Thanks for the help Ahab, just an update, we fixed the problem, the old fuse link was installed so it had constant tension on it. After a while it started breaking strands and then it was only a matter of time before the rest of them couldn't handle the load and cooked. A new one fixed the problem and we installed it so it's not so tight, hopefully it'll last a long time now, those things aren't cheap!
