68RFE Questions
Well this is my first post on DTR. I don't have a Ram yet, but one is definitely in my future. When that time comes, expect my login name to change slightly...
I am leaning towards the G56 6 shooter, but I'm curious about the 68RFE and it's features. From all of the press releases I've heard, the 68RFE is supposed to have similar features as the Allison. Things like dual overdrives, ability to select and hold a gear (shift manually), and automatic downshifts on decents. I wonder though about the Tow/Haul mode, if it's going to be like the 545RFE. From what I understand, the Tow/Haul on 545RFE trucks adjusts shift points as well as cuts out the second overdrive. Will the 68RFE act the same way? I just wonder how appropriate a 0.625 OD gear is for towing at 23,000 GCW...

with a 4.10 gear it will be ok , I think. some real world testing will be what we all need to see to be sure. I have a close buddy working in engineering that has been waiting to have his, thats how sure he is of it. saying testing was done @ 1000 lb ft.
