2008 6.7L Is is just me or is it not having many issues?

Hey folks:

I was just checking to see if you all have th same feeling but the 2008 6.7's seem to be having a few issues but overall not many. I keep going through this forum and many others and really don't find many threads about problems with the 2008 6.7's.

Thoughts?

It looks to me like the 07.5's had some teething pains but the 08's are better. I am not about to say how well my 08 is running, but???

I bet the 09's will be even better.

My milage was down a bit after doing alot of in town driving so I took the really long way to work the other day on all freeway and not I have picked up a full MPG over what it has been.

I have the 07.5 and it's been great. 2 flashes and the recall right after I bought the truck but after 25,000 miles and some towing in the mountains this truck has been great. Mileage is lower then my 04.5 but I still hope it will improve.

My 07.5 had issues to begin with but milage is up to 18.5 hand cal. running empty. Power is awsome and truck is now running great.

I agree and I'm starting to think the 6.7L will look as good as the 5.9 in the next year or so. Anyone else care to go that far?

So what is the mpg that you are getting? That seems to be one of the biggest down falls of the 6.7's.

My 08 has been doing good ,had the G30 recall done and that is it ,it currently has 8500 miles on it and my mileage is down 1.5 miles a gallon compared to my 03,but my 03 has 177,000 ,with more miles my 08 mileage will be better.Power wise this thing can pull and the Auto ,no need for standard trans with this thing.

Knock on wood I have had no probs with mine at all. For the most part I think that people are very quick to bash the new and for get the probs of the old. I remenber evey one thinking that the 5.9 went to junk when the 24-valve came out with the VP44 electronic pump, and again in 03 when it went CR. Now every one thinks there great trucks but the VP44 was very prone to going out but it was due to a poor lift pump placement and desighn. I have seen lots of post on here claming to have probs with the 6.7 but it was some thing un-related with the 6.7 it was a part that the 6.7 and 5.9 both used but people are quick to jump on the band wagon. I put just over 3K on my truck in 3 weeks and had no probs and have almost 5K on it now and could not be happyer with it. And I have the trucks in my sig and the 96 is a 5spd 4x4 ex cab 2500 with tons of mods and I am selling it to help pay for my 08. That is how much I like this new truck.

Just reminber that a Happy coustemer will only tell a few people about there experiance but an UN-Happy coustemer will tell everyone they see and that is a fact.

I've noticed the same thing and am also considering buying one even though I started out only looking for 5.9 4x4's. I took one for a test drive this past weekend and it was impressive. The low end torque is great and the exhaust brake makes the package even better.

All the issues with the emissions gear have seemed to die out but the only remaining thing is the reports of slightly lower mpg's. Although it is important to me, it's a bigger engine and it's a truck...oh yeah, and something about the environment

One thing I noticed when I took the 6.7 for a spin (didn't think was worth a new thread) was that it didn't have much of the cummins shakedown/rattle when turning it off. Has anyone else noticed this??

I haven't even driven one yet but I'm working on a deal with a dealer in NC on one. I'll just take the word from guys here and elsewhere that it's great to drive. I can't wait to get into an auto truck again....
So, since it's a 6 speed does that mean there is no lockup converter anymore?

It still has a lockup converter and only runs 1800rpm at 70mph. Its a Double over drive 4th is direct and 5 is just a little less over drive than a 6spd manual, about 200rpm more.

The transmission is the really really cool thing. It shifts great - likes to be in a low RPM and isn't quick to up shift from say 6th to 5th which I really really like.

The truck just hums along and I very seldom notice the turbo whine. When I do its not necessarily when I think I would.

But I'm very satisfied to date. I take mine in Friday for its first service before I head to Florida on spring break.

Mike
