07 5.9 quad, choppy ride

is it the shocks that suck? not enough weight? This thing rides nice most of the time, but certain road surfaces make this thing really choppy. any idears or common areas to fix?

They do ride better when they're loaded but some good shocks would help smooth it out a little. Also shortbeds ride a little rougher than LB's or Megas. I hear a lot of people say bilstein 5100s are a good replacement shock. Just keep in mind you've got a heavy duty 3/4 (?) or 1 ton (?) truck here and if it's 4x4 (?) with that solid axle it's not gonna ride like a cadillac. Honestly I think they ride really well for what they are and everyone that's ridin in my truck says the same thing. It still has a solid truck feel to it more so than the chevy's and fords (that feel like cars imo) but it's not overly rough..

dont get me wrong, Ive had trucks my whole driving life. This thing is just much choppier than my 04 CC ford with leaves in the front. i would have thought this thing would have ridden nicer than that thing.

Ill check the shocks out. are they rebadged monroes or something of that quality?

I have a QC long bed and notice that on certain stretches of concrete pavement I'll get a pronounced up and down chop. Never happens on blacktop...I suspect the seam lines in the pavement are close to the same length as the wheelbase of the truck...??

I have a stretch of interstate that will do the same thing. It's just plain out rough. When I had my motorcyle I broke my horn mount 3 times going to and from work. It would buck me all over the place on that bike. I get it in any vehicle I have driven down it.

It sounds like you live in vegas. Our freeway surfaces are notorious for bouncing your man-***** clean off of your chest. I kind of like it though when the wife rides in the passenger seat. Nice jiggle

pull the sway bar off, she will ride a lot better. And you need a new spring stack in the rear or flip over the bottom over load spring.

shocks gotta go too
