wrong fuel !
Has anyone ever had this happen? My Dad was filling his truck, he put in gas instead of diesel! How? Don't ask me. Anyway the truck was idleing while he was filling, by the time he realized what he was doing he had 10 gal. in the tank. Now he has to wait until Tues. to get the tank pumped and lines flushed. Will this cause any damage?

I've heard of this happening before. I doubt there is any serious long term damage, though others may have more input on this.
Matter of fact, recent posts here have mentioned that some have taken delivery of their new '04.5 model Dodges only to find some goofball at the factory put in gasoline.

That's a bummer! If it was less than 3-4 gallons I would go ahead and run it, with a double dose of fuel additive, and/or a quart of new engine oil thrown in the tank to help with lubricity. I accidentally put a couple gallons in my old truck once with no ill effect. Keep an eye on the EGT gauge, gas will make EGTs go up.
I would drain most of the tank but you do not have to flush the lines or replace the filter unless you cannot get it started.

We have had a couple of station attendants do that. I forget what the formula was for deluting. But I wouldn't be afraid to top off the tank with diesel then put two quarts or diesel fuel conditioner in for lubeing purposes. Power service or staydine in a pinch atf will work.

I did the same thing looking at a hot girl one time but since it was only about 1/3 unleaded i just ran it out just stopping all the time to top off the tank and blend it in better. Man i hate it at truck stops where they have one pump of gas out in the semi truck pumps for RV'ers. That why i didn't even look at the pump.

LOL Borush
'tis true though. My 2001 HO burned during its 3 years with me:
• About 8 gallons of used oil
• About 2 gallons of used synthetic oil
• About4 quarts of new, cheap engine oil
• About 2 gallons of old veggie oil
• About 2 quarts of ransid Coleman stove gas
• Marvel Mystery Oil
• 2-3 gallons of Gasoline
• Various additives such as Power Service and Amalgamated
I think I got most of 'em
Oh, and in my 2003 so far. . .
• 2 quarts of slightly used oil
• 1 quart new oil
• 2 gallons used veggie oil
• 12 gallons of mineral oil
• Amalgamated fuel additive, since only *the best* goes in my fuel tank
That's it. Ooops I almost forgot one. . . DIESEL.

Yeah Borush I can't wait! I left it outside all winter with a full tank of fuel, probably gelled good since it was straight #2. Hard to say if it will start good in the spring.
Last time I tried to run it was late October when it was around 45-50. Man I couldn't keep the fire lit. It would run if I primed it a lot but it totally fogged the neighborhood so I decided to give up on it before the neighbors got PO'd! The coolest weather I was able to get it to run in was around 60F
This year I want to add a little smokestack and put a chrome air cleaner on. I may pop the head and port it out a bit for a little more breathing. I made it all last year without blowing a hole in the piston or chucking the rod through the block, let's see if it will hold together another season!
